I’m wondering whether to carry on.

I’ve paused my subscription because I’ve got loads left (if I use it too often my chin goes really dry and flaky) and although I THINK my skin looks brighter I’m not sure I’ve had the dramatic improvement that some seem to report.

Also although it’s not sore (as long as I don’t overdo
it) I do find my skin “tickles” a couple of hours after application. I find myself constantly brushing imaginary hairs off my face.

Am I likely to see much more improvement?

I've been on it for about 2.5 months (tret, 0.5 I think) and I'm starting to see some results on my 11s, they are definitely less prominent than before. I've also had unpleasant side effects (peeling around chin, cystic acne, stinging) but from what I've seen online tret is long game and it takes time to see results. I don't use it every night so still on the first bottle, I follow up with Weleda skin food and give my skin a break from it for a few days if I feel like it needs it.

Oddly the tret doesn’t sting but when I follow with moisturiser that does - and it’s Simple so can’t imagine one much milder!

It’s a long game, as mentioned. Do you apply it directly to your skin as often using the sandwich method is recommended to protect your skin barrier if there’s any discomfort eg hyaluronic acid then Tret then moisturiser (and I finish off with the Ordinary Squalane). Once your skins gets used to the Tret you can apply it directly to your skin. You also need a high SPF during the day to maintain the benefits.

I have the same problem when applying other products (particularly the Cerave PM night cream), though that seems to be reducing - you could try the barrier method pp mentioned, I sometimes put the tret on after using No7 Skin Sip (think it's a dupe for the Rhode glazing milk) - give it a few months at least as it will take time to see results (apparently...)
