Tell me about your health grill/panini press

We keep breaking sandwich toasters.
We always manage to break the clip on the front that holds it closed, whether Cusineart, Salter, Breville or Cookworks. They all seem to have the same weak point. The Salter one we had also took ages to warm up, and never really truly browned the bread.

Anyway. I think we need a panni press instead. What’s a good one to go for?

i don’t own a panini press, so asked ChatGPT how to make a panini without specialised equipment as kiddo was pestering me for one a while back

Basically squish it down in a frying pan under a heavy saucepan, with a layer of baking paper in between panini and the saucepan, flip the panini halfway through cooking and repeat. Takes a bit of practice but actually works! Cooking two paninis at a time helps with balancing the saucepan

this may not be the answer you’re looking for but I was gobsmacked by the panini hack 😂

This one - we use ours pretty much daily. It’s super
easy to clean, very robust and makes a great toastie

I had a Tefal one. Bought because the two sides could be removed and put in the dishwasher. It was very good.
But it died.
