Poor Quality of Knitwear

Has anyone else thought that the quality of knitwear seems to have deteriorated over the last few years? Unless you are prepared to pay for cashmere/merino, it seems that most knitwear is made of acrylic/polyester fibre which looks nice and is cosy, but as soon as you wash it, it goes bobbly and looks awful. I have two Monsoon jumpers (so not cheap) which I loved, but once washed they look like old rags! Any suggestions for better quality knitwear without it costing £££?

Just one nice one rather than four sub par ones is my suggestion.

Uniqlo and Community Clothing - CC ones especially, excellent quality wool and no shrinkage at all washing at 30c

I have a very pricey cashmere one from Poetry and it gets so bobbly every time I wear it! It’s a nice cardie in every other respect, but is spoiled because it needs to be combed every time I wear and even then it still looks bobbly. It’s like painting the Forth Bridge!
I’ve had merino/wool mixes from Hobbs for almost a third of the price which, although they do bobble a bit and still aren’t what I would call cheap, are far less high maintenance and just as smart/warm/cosy.
