Things that make me happy and things that make me sad

In no particular order, and definitely not a complete list:

Happy things:

  • Being in a comfy spot in bed
  • My three wonderful children making me proud to be their mum, cherishing their childhoods
  • Seeing my parents, appreciating them more as an adult to adult relationship (even if they still mollycoddle me somewhat aged 44 😅😳)
  • Eating good quality dark chocolate
  • Having good days with my health, where I feel more at ease in my own body, either with no aches, pains, symptoms of perimenopause, or my movement disorder
  • Having been given the gift of life after being born three months prematurely - when I feel depressed, angry etc, I try to remind myself of this

Sad things:

  • Ageing and the fact my body is getting older, more sensitive to hormonal fluctuations, less able to fight off illness as easily as it used to
  • Knowing there are lots of toxic chemicals in food, medication, even the air/soil etc (pesticides, medication in human waste used as fertiliser etc) that we consume - forever chemicals that contribute to longterm poor health etc
  • The world we are leaving for our children
  • Job and financial security
  • Support for the elderly relatives who will obviously be close like parents etc, and seeing people i love be vulnerable

There are lots more things I can think of, but don't want to make the list too mawkish or depressing.

Lighthearted things are absolutely better than my last few things on my list 😂😵‍💫

(Random thread, I know. I'm in an introspective mood!)

I understand your list.

Happy:

  • When I have a lovely day with my children, the stars align, the sun’s out, they’re in a good mood and it’s the weekend. And we go to the local farm or an outing somewhere.
  • As you put, when I’m not in pain - chronically ill and most days have discomfort or pain of some kind.
  • That Sunday afternoon feeling, settling on the sofa after a roast dinner to watch something on TV with a glass of something nice
  • Seeing my kids giggling and playing together

Actually I’m going to stop there. I could do a sad list but it would change my mood.

Happy.
Being with DH who makes me feel safe as opposed to the time before I met him when I never did.
living in my tiny house where I have been for 50 years
Being nearly 80 and still in good health
The Acers in my garden
My DCs, GCs and my GGc
My 2 amazing DiLs and my amazing SiL
My local Doctor and staff at the Health Centre who have really helped me this year
SAD.
Missing My lovely Dad and the fact that my kids did not meet him.

Happy

My DD

Chatting to my mum

Good friends, especially meeting a fairly recent new good friend after I had given up hope of making local friends

My house and where I live

Nature - walks in woods / swimming outside

Sport

Weight lifting & getting stronger in my 40s

Lots of things make me sad, but what I struggle with a lot day to day are how many people are just completely selfish - dangerous driving, selfish parking, not picking up dog poo, dropping litter - SO many people
