Yup, I overthink things :-)

Now I am wondering about the value of contents v cost of packing/ shipping/ storage etc.

Re soup tho. I see it more as something to dip bread into. And I really like packet soup.

My ideal would be a big tub of packet soup mix. Especially chicken noodle. Just spoon out how much you want and put the lid back on.

Amazon do catering packs of powdered soup, 25 servings to a carton.

Including Knorr chicken noodle but that's 48 servings. Sorry, can't link.

Oh, that’s unpleasant of you. Was there really any need for that?

How is it unpleasant?! Confused

You said it was “a bit shit” so I said you must be buying the wrong soup!

Add a small amount of water. Split between 2 bowls and have some bread with it, that’s what we do and it’s fine

Bjorkdidit · 12/12/2025 09:44

@Jane143 I mostly eat home made soup but prefer canned tomato (M&S not Heinz) but find it a bit rich. So I add a bit of vegetable or chicken stock and serve it with cheese on toast and find that's about right for two lunches.

But I agree that lots of things don't split very well into portions, eg those packs of microwave rice or filled pasta are like this. Although with the pasta I suppose you're supposed to bulk it out with vegetables or chicken but that rather defeats the object of it being a 2 min CBA meal.

<awaits the 'they're plenty for two and if you disagree it's because you're a big greedy fatty' crowd'>

Maybe it depends what's in the soup? A full tin of tomato with bread is just right for me.
