Would you see a GP for a twitchy eyelid?

Been going on for 2 weeks now. I do long shifts and I’m knackered, but I can’t change the shifts so I’m stuck with that. But I’ve never had twitchy eyelid last more than a couple of days. It’s been going on so long I wondered if something else could be going on?

No. I've had periods of having twitchy eyelids when I've been tired and stressed.

No wonder the NHS is under pressure

Oh purlease, reel it in! I would have to see a GP to get signed off for a couple of weeks to get rest anyway. This is months of over work, so I couldn’t just do one duvet day. But no, I’ll soldier on until I collapse. Thats fine.

I had the twitchy eyelid thing for a full year once. The job I did at the time involved a lot of close reading of tiny print and I was kind of knackered and stressed that year anyway, so just waited it out and it eventually passed. It honestly wouldn't have crossed my mind to see the GP unless other symptoms had started too, like headaches or dizziness or similar.

Thanks… I will wait it out, I’m a long way off your record :D
Glad to hear it resolved itself.

You are low in B12 and magnesium.. up your vitamin plus a bit of rest it will clear.

No, you don't know she's low in those things. She can ask to be tested, yes, but it could also be stress and exhaustion as others have mentioned.

As an optometrist I probably see someone with a twitchy eyelid a few times a week. 75% of the time, I can't find anything wrong with their eyes or vision and I suggest it's due to tiredness, stress or magnesium/B12 deficiency. There's not much in the literature about it.

The other 25% I either prescribed glasses or drops to. I did a little study and the ones I had prescribed drops to said it mainly made no difference to their twitching and the glasses wearers most (81%) said it did.

So, anyway, I'd definitely have an eye exam and if it show nothing - it's probably tiredness, stress or possibly a deficiency

@Gwenhwyfar do you add anything moderately constructive?
