Hi all, im quite good at having a list for everything I need to do the next day, but I just can’t get up when I want!! I’ve tried early morning exercise, alarm clocks downstairs, no phone upstairs, alarm clock that runs around ect ect. This new year is going to be my last year of trying I think, if I still can’t ill just have to resign im not a morning person!

Any tips greatfully viewed.

I presume you have tried going to bed earlier?

What about a sunrise clock so you aren’t getting up in the dark?

Change the label on your phone alarm to an instruction - ‘Feet On Floor’ is one I’ve read about. Gets you upright immediately!

What’s the root cause issue though? Do you snooze the alarms and sit scrolling?

Are you actually trying to get up too early for no real reason? I get up at 0730 when I work from home and I get everything done that I want / need to; there is absolutely no reason to get up at 6 so why would I force myself to?

Well….. yes but…. There is so much to be done Ill never realistically be asleep before 11pm. But id have thought being up by 6am the following day should be possible regularly.

I got a Teasmaid and it’s made it much easier! I’ve build a small shelf above my bedside table and set it for 10 mins before I need to wake up. Then when my alarm goes I can enjoy a cup of tea for 10 mins before getting up. Or you could find the equivalent for coffee / use a timer or smart plug.

I’m a snoozer unfortunately no matter how much I want not too I always do for over an hour. I only get up bang on time when I know it is something important that can’t be missed.

I need to get up early so I can make a head start on work and get the kids up, ready and school on time without the rushing and stress.

when I do rise early I never regret it and after 10 minutes im fine. It’s that initial alarm going off and I want to keep sleeping that is so hard to defeat.

I suppose Im really massively lazy and don’t have the will power 🙈

Not asleep before 11pm and up at 6am would only give you 7 hours sleep which isn't nearly enough for most people.

You are either trying to do far too much, or being inefficient, or you need to let standards slip, or you need more help.

If you like try posting what you try to do each morning and evening and people may be able to help.

I'll start with: wash towels, bedding, trousers and jumpers less often.

Don’t you have to be up for work?
I wake up at 4 every morning and lie there until my alarm goes off at 6!
