Any vaccine nurses around, I have a quick question.

9 year old DD missed her nasal flu vaccine as we were on holiday, the catch up clinic is in tomorrow. However, she’s been off school yesterday and today with a high temperature (now resolved) and a bit of a cough. Her older sister and I have both had the same thing this week. It’s much worse than a cold, none if us have been eating much and we’ve had chills and aching joints but it’s definitely not Covid (negative tests). Her sister and I have both had our vaccines which has got me wondering if it has been a milder flu because of this, our local NHS trust has just stopped all but non-essential visiting to hospitals because of the high case numbers here.

Its only just occurred to me that they might not give her the vaccine because of this which would be fine if the clinic was being held locally but it’s a 50 mile round trip and I’d rather know now if we were likely to be sent home without receiving the vaccine.

Thanks in advance!

(edit to add - I have googled but gotten multiple answers which all seem to hinge on whether or not her nose is blocked, would appreciate a professional opinion if at all possible)

As long as she's feeling well in herself and doesn't have a temperature then she's fine to have the vaccine

Does the vaccine even cover the strain that's hitting everywhere ?
