Huge amounts of stress - help.

Hello. I'm currently going through huge amounts of stress in both my work and personal life - I don't want to say too much as I don't want to be outing - and I can feel myself starting to droop. I've also aged about 20 years in the last two weeks.
What do you all do to manage stress? The only thing I've had time to do is to have a bath with some lavender!
I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

sorry you’re going through it OP.
For me I like to write lists to get it all out of my head, such as the things that are worrying me, the things I can do to help situation. I also counter it with a list of what’s going right and things that could improve on their own. Something about writing it down means I ruminate less and doing the positive lists always makes me feel less anxious.

I agree journaling is really helpful. Ticking things off a list can show progress.
Go for a walk, even when it’s cold, get wrapped up warm and you’ll feel differently.
Read a book in a quiet space.
Listen to music or the radio.
Take regular breaks too.
Sleep, nutrition and breathing techniques also help.

Thank you both.
I'm struggling to be able to read which is always a sign I'm stressed, my mind keeps wandering off.
I wake early with a huge todo list in my head but I do tick off tasks as I do them.

I really like the music idea. I always feel better after that and will be doing that shortly. For some reason, I seem to forgot that it helps!

Thank you.

It's good that you've caught this before it's gone on longer. Things that help me:
-getting outside for a walk, ideally in the woods
-saying no to things
-asking myself how important is it really to do x, y, z and can I renegotiate
-doing something creative
-music (not radio or podcasts)
-massage or reflexology or cranial osteopathy

Can you actually deal with the source of stress at all? E g. Negotiate your work, seek therapy if it's a relationship etc. The problem with managing it through distraction is the causes are still there. Huge amounts of stress cause chronic health problems over time. It is better to deal head on with the issues if you can.

I've also been massively stressed at work over the last two months to the point where I had upset stomachs etc. it's slowly coming to an end but it's made me rethink my role and I might have to look for a new job.

To get through this time I've been listening to audio books at every opportunity, it really helps me to listen to something comforting that I know well. In my case it's been pride and prejudice. I also find a scroll through MM very useful when taking a break. Also walks outside and deep breaths. Good luck.
