Has anyone/anyone’s DC got a Meta Quest?

What’s it really like beyond the advert? I don’t know anyone with one to try it out. Is it worth the £££?

We bought one for DS13 a couple of years ago. He loves it but doesn't play it much now. Beat Sabre is a great game, also 5 nights at Freddie's

Does the novelty wear off @DiscoBeat?

games that scare me

THAT realistic? I’ll avoid Resident Evil then, not my speed! I would like to participate in SOME of the Gaming but I don’t know what would be my speed.

Terrified me. I used to have to have breaks to calm down! It was like the zombies were stood right next to me.

They are awesome! Loads of building games to be had.

my DC love them and they play with their friends a lot. On private servers though.

I suppose the thing is, you don’t really know if it will suit all needs/purposes until you actually try and bite the bullet as it’s not possible to trial

It's possible to try VR. There's loads of VR places where you can go try all the various games. I think Curry's let's you try it too. You really do need good WiFi though. It's pointless without.

WildUnknown · 04/12/2025 22:42

@Jeronnemoyes I was thinking of Curry’s I don’t know where my nearest one is these days though and I would feel cheeky not buying I think

Some arcades have them. Pay to play.

I love Moss!
So it's a third person view, you're looking down into this forest/castle and moving your cute mouse around, some things you need to reach in and touch to open doors etc.
Also liked the alice in wonderland games which are similar

I'm not great with first person, that starts to make me a bit nauseous. Managed to finish The Room because you can point at the bit of floor you want to go to, close your eyes and press the teleport button😂
But walking around with my eyes and standing still with my legs makes me 🤢sadly so I'm limited to what I can play. Young people seem fine though!

WildUnknown · 05/12/2025 21:00

Thanks @ElectoralControversy have you got a mental list of good apps you wouldn’t mind sharing? (or anyone else)

Depends what you like really
I've probably spent most time on Beat Saber
Moss (and moss 2) were fun
Lego Brick Tales was great

I liked The Climb as well, managed to do that without motion sickness because you move your arms to move so that was ok

I haven't done many 'relaxing' ones, though I have played Puzzling Places now and again, which is 3d jigsaw puzzles...ought to go on that again actually 🤔

I don't have DC, but I have a quest. Have had several incarnations of VR headsets, from the DK2 Rift, Go, quest 2, and now a quest 3. My mum is in her 60s and has one and loves it.

There is loads you can do with them. I meet up with a friend and we play escape rooms together and have a good old chat at the same time. You can use them for gaming, learning, therapy, fitness etc loads of things.

Walkabout Minigolf is the absolute best app ever, and worth getting a headset for that alone.

Have you got any recommendations for escape rooms? I've done The Room, then got a bit bogged down looking at all the other options that were available
Ideally no jump scares 😳
