I have IC but recently been getting crippling pressure pain in abdomen. It feels like I have a tennis ball inside me. I can’t properly eat as it makes me sick. Have stress incontinence front and back. I’ve had a hysterectomy and only have one ovary.

GP is sending me for an ultrasound. She doesn’t know if pain is bladder, gynae or bowel.
I have no idea how I’m going to do the full bladder thing for the ultrasound. There is no way! The last time I had tests like that with the voiding it showed my bladder holds 10ml before needing to empty!

I’ve sent my gp practice a message asking if transvaginal would be an option.

How have you dealt with it?

Can you ask for a strong anti inflammatory if it wouldn't interfere with the results? I have IC controlled long term with amitriptyline and have taken ibuprofen before ultrasounds. It's still been painful still, but bearable. But it sounds like your pain is much greater.

It’s having a full bladder that I’m not going to be able to do.
Im on multiple medications but even with those my bladder cannot hold much.

If your bladder isn't full enough on the day they will do trans vaginal.

I went for an ultrasound that required a full bladder - they were running 45 minutes late so all my drink timing strategy was for nothing, and I was BURSTING! Started the exterior ultrasound, said it was 'over full', they couldn't see what they needed and I was left with the choice of trying to half empty my bladder, or go for full wee and have a transvaginal.

Anyway - long story short, they were willing to change the method of ultrasound on the day based on conditions, so you should probably be fine, if your 10ml isn't good enough for them, then they'll work something out.

I have had a couple of ultrasounds and have only drunk the water a few minutes before going in. I have never had a problem and it was confirmed during my last one that my bladder was full so it clearly holds almost nothing.

I’ve asked the dr if I can request a transvaginal. As much as that is uncomfortable, I’d prefer it as a full bladder is agony for me.
I can’t take any kind of pressure.
I pee a lot when I cough. 😢

I have one of these tomorrow. Partly because I cannot hold it - I have a pretty good pelvic floor but when I need to go I can pull it up and still be holding it but also be in agony. There's a little leakage - and it feels like my nerves arnt working rather than my pelvic floor not holding. I'm dreading it too. Planning on downing the liquid 30mins before max and Def no caffeine in the morning. Good luck x

Good luck. Come back and tell me how it went! It amazes me that we have to have full bladders when we’re mostly looking for problems with the bladder!

I have central sensitisation where my nerves are over sensitive and react in panic mode when I am in pain so something small can land me in A&E.
Last time that was because of 2 ovarian cysts.
