I have a mission to piss off daily fail readers every morning

And I get a warm glow of satisfaction when I have the worst rated comment of all. Makes me happy all day.

anyone else involved in petty bullshit every day?

(as an example today’s daily bastard story is about a woman who WORKS FULLTIME in London - and bringing in £2800 from the job - who has to also claim about £3,000 a month for childcare costs and rent as that’s the cost of living 🤷‍♀️ - you can imagine the frothing comments slagging her off rather than questioning cost of living/childcare costs/telling her she has to move - when it’s likely her job doesn’t exist elsewhere)

And I guess you read the Guardian and listen to the BBC

Awards won by DM journos

Media Freedom Awards 2025 (November 2025)
The Daily Mail was a major winner, taking home three awards:

  • Journalist of the Year: Awarded to Chief Reporter Sam Greenhill (alongside predecessor David Williams) for a two-year investigation into a government data leak that endangered Afghan lives.
  • Investigation of the Year: Won by "The Secret Afghan Airlift" report.
  • Commentator of the Year (Popular): Awarded to Ian Birrell.
The Press Awards 2025 (May 2025) Mail writers were highly successful at the "Oscars of journalism":
  • Feature Writer of the Year (Tabloid): Ian Birrell won this title for the third time in five years.
  • Young Journalist of the Year: Sabrina Miller received this award for her "superb reporting".
  • Highly Commended:
  • Ian Herbert (Sports Journalist of the Year category)
  • The Trial of Diddy podcast (News Podcast of the Year category)
Other Recent Awards
  • London Press Club Awards 2023: Katie Hind won Scoop of the Year for her exclusives about Phillip Schofield, and the podcast The Trial of Lucy Letby won the Multimedia Journalist of the Year award.
  • Inspirational Women Awards: The Daily Mail held its own awards in partnership with Marks & Spencer to honor women with an extraordinary community impact. The 2025 winners were unveiled in June 2025 and included Gulnaz Brennan, Jo Cruse, Maisha Sumah, Sally Becker, and Roxy Longworth.
  • British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) 2025: The Daily Mail reported on the winners, where the film Pillion led with four awards.

Notable Daily Mail Exposés and Campaigns

  • Justice for Stephen Lawrence: The paper launched a vigorous and widely recognized campaign for justice following the racist murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence in 1993. This included a famous and controversial front page in 1997 naming the suspects as murderers and challenging them to sue.
  • Plastic Bag Charge Campaign: A sustained "Banish the Bags" campaign, launched in 2008 and reignited in subsequent years, used striking imagery of marine life affected by plastic to push for environmental changes. This is credited with helping bring about the 5p plastic bag charge in the UK.
  • "Enemies of the People" (Brexit): In a highly controversial 2016 front page, the paper labeled three High Court judges as "Enemies of the people" after they ruled that the government could not trigger Brexit without a parliamentary vote. This headline drew significant attention and criticism but was a defining moment of its fervent pro-Brexit campaign.
  • Gary McKinnon Extradition Fight: In 2009, the Daily Mail campaigned against the extradition of Gary McKinnon, a British man with Asperger's syndrome accused of hacking into U.S. government computers, arguing it was an "affront to British justice". The campaign was ultimately successful, and McKinnon was not extradited.
  • "Cash for Care Jobs" Scam: A recent undercover investigation by journalist Isaan Khan revealed how rogue recruiters were exploiting relaxed visa laws to charge migrants up to £20,000 in illegal "work finder fees" for care home jobs, leaving "vulnerable looking after the vulnerable".
  • NHS Asbestos Danger: An exposé on the widespread danger of asbestos in NHS hospitals, featuring the story of a doctor who died from related cancer and highlighting that thousands of victims work in buildings riddled with toxic fibres.
  • Pork Farm Animal Cruelty: The paper published a series of articles and footage exposing workers at a major UK pork producer's farm allegedly kicking and beating piglets, which led to an investor showdown for the company.
  • Immigration Scams: The Mail has also exposed alleged immigration scams, including secret filming that revealed the tactics of agents facilitating immigration fraud.

Ds got offered a job on the Daily Mail but wouldn’t take it. He took the interview for interview experience.

Their journalism is very good according to him. Particularly investigative. But they are still a bunch of Fascists. So your post proves nothing.

Interesting fact: DM is only paper in media to insist its employees wear suits. Everywhere else is casual. Ds also told me that the majority who work there hold left wing views but need to keep their jobs. But they hate it.

Wolmando · 03/12/2025 18:40

You sound quite wound up about it, they are obviously winding you up

BrokenWorldRecord · 03/12/2025 18:44

Find a more constructive use for your time.

JudgeBread · 03/12/2025 18:46

Wow your life must be really empty that you have time to do this every single day, and the headspace to care so much! It is interesting though to hear the mentality of a troll from the horse's mouth so to speak.

So you genuinely feel that in doing this, occupying a significant portion of your life with this, you're achieving something?

Wolmando · 03/12/2025 18:50

It is a little odd

EasternStandard · 03/12/2025 21:40

idrinkandiknowthings · 03/12/2025 13:34

OP, given that you've quoted the story doesn't that make you a Daily Fail reader yourself?

I buy it at the weekend, along with The Guardian and The Observer for contrasting reporting.

Plus the DM will benefit from the op’s dedicated interaction.

MowingMachine · 03/12/2025 21:44

Ha ha. Stick it to the Fail by giving them more advertising clicks, and then causing other readers to interact with your comments, thus giving them more advertising clicks!

You're a genius, OP.

RoastLambs · 03/12/2025 21:57

It’s just a circle of nonsense. They write articles to wind people up, you get worked up about them but think you are more intelligent than they are for some bizarre reason and then react to it. Then other people react to you reacting to them.

And everyone thinks they are the winners. 🌟

To me, you just sound thick. You are doing exactly what they want you to do.

Your DS refused a job on the UK's best selling newspaper. Of course he did 🤣

And saying they force their employees to wear suits at all times, no clue where you got that from, but that is absolutely not true 🤔

Yeah he did. He went for interview technique. He also went to the Financial Times and the BBC. He worked for Sky and now works in other national media. He also worked for the PA and the Huffington Post.

What the fuck do you know?

CalmShaker · 04/12/2025 21:34

I think there's only one loser in all of this and that's you OP

It was 10 years ago. When Dacre was in charge.

Absolut bullshit. I worked there. The journos were just as sloppy as journos everywhere. Chino type trousers, shirt, jumper, big man bag (for the men, obvs 😁).

WallaceinAnderland · 05/12/2025 00:14

But to do that you have to be a daily fail reader yourself 🤔

OriginalUsername2 · 05/12/2025 00:24

You’re just giving the Daily Mail more clicks and engagement unfortunately.

Justchilling07 · 05/12/2025 02:00

@OriginalUsername2 yes, this is very true
Op that makes you a DM reader! you’re just adding to their clicks, or whatever you call it.Wow well done you🙄

MaloryJones · 05/12/2025 11:54

Bit of an own goal there OP

MyKindHiker · 05/12/2025 11:56

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 03/12/2025 12:59

You are a habitual troll. As long as it’s working for you and not stopping you from doing something else.

Yeah but she's a troll for the good guys so it's allowed :-)

fedupposter · 05/12/2025 12:12

£3000 in benefits on a £46,000 salary is insane. You can’t disagree with that, surely?

theemmadilemma · 05/12/2025 12:33

I'm not sure citing some awards and the odd bit of good journalism is a particularly good defence against the constant click bait and shite that also comes from the DM.

I simply refuse to click any link from them.

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 06/12/2025 07:01

I used to do this, but reached a point where they have so many comments that I didn't't think anyone would really notice. It was interesting, though, how often what they hated most was simply pointing out facts, e.g. the stats that show what a disaster area Brexit was and is.

Velveletteslonleylonelygirlami · 06/12/2025 07:43

It wouldn't be hard to piss off a Daily Heil reader on the comments section.
Most of them going by the comments on women/immigrants/the disabled etc seem to go through life being angry and pissed off with all in creation.

ChristmasinBrighton · 06/12/2025 08:14

I just tell myself my mere existence, as a leftie disabled woman is enough to annoy the average DM reader.

I even have a blue badge and claim PIP!

Oh how they must hate me 🤣
