Good evening,

Ive been in pain from my neck to my shoulder on and off for years. This last week has been especially sore with a tight burning sensation from my neck down into my shoulder.

I had a private MRI done and this is the report. Can anyone offer any advice please?

Thanks

Put it in chat GTP and ask for plain English interpretation.

Chat GPT says :

Overall Summary
Your MRI findings are generally very good. There is no serious spinal canal narrowing, no nerve compression of concern, and no abnormal spinal cord signal. Most of what is described is mild age-related wear-and-tear that many people have.

Breakdown of the Findings
1. Paranasal Sinuses: “Clear”

  • These are the air-filled spaces around your nose and eyes.
  • Clear means no sinus infection, inflammation, or blockage.

MRI of the Spine
Alignment & Bone Marrow

  • Normal alignment: The spine is positioned correctly.
  • Normal bone marrow signal: No signs of fracture, tumor, or inflammation.

Cervical Spine (Neck):

  • “Minimal spondylosis”: Very mild age-related changes (arthritis-like).
  • C5/C6 shallow disc osteophyte bar:
  • A small combination of disc bulge and tiny bone spur.
  • This causes mild left foraminal stenosis — a slight narrowing of the opening where nerves exit on the left side.
  • Mild → unlikely to cause major symptoms but could relate to occasional neck or arm discomfort on the left.

Thoracic Spine (Mid-back):

  • A few shallow posterior disc protrusions: small disc bulges.
  • No foraminal or canal stenosis: They do not compress nerves or the spinal canal.
  • This is not dangerous, and often not symptomatic.

Lumbar Spine (Lower back):

  • “In good condition”: No significant abnormalities reported.

Spinal Cord

  • “Returns normal signal”: Very important.
  • Means the spinal cord is healthy, with no inflammation, compression, or damage.

What This Means for You

  • Mild, common degenerative changes; nothing severe.
  • No nerve compression of significance and no spinal cord issues.
  • If you have symptoms (neck pain, stiffness, occasional arm tingling), they may be due to the mild C5/C6 narrowing — usually manageable with conserv

Thank you so much! ☺️ I wonder if I’ve trapped a nerve or something then.
