Just decided today, got childcare sorted and I’m going to hop on a flight tomorrow (I live in Northern Ireland) booked tickets to a show and just thought to hell with it

It’s been a rough few months, also using it as an excuse to get Christmas bits.
Do you think I’m being a bit mad?
I haven’t told my family yet
Im hoping to do a bit of solo travelling next year and I thought this would be a good start.

Enjoy OP. I am on my second solo holiday this year as I type this. I was widowed a good few years ago and DC now at uni so I thought I would give it a go. I get a bit carried away, so end up doing a bit of country hopping including night trains, coach travel etc to some very weird and wonderful places. You will not be bored. I am currently lying on my hotel bed drinking V cheap wine before catching an early train in the morning to my next stop. In your down time or when on the move you can just read, listen to audio books, watch things you have downloaded etc. You can eat at whichever restaurant you want without having to negotiate, do and see whay you want at your own pace. Embrace and enjoy it OP!

OMG, I live in deep furthest Kent! I am
always planning to do an indulgent day in London.

So am inspired!

London, is so busy, it is multicultural, it is a great city, it is mad! Enjoy your day.

Can I just share a little anecdote! I took my mum to St Thomas’s Hospital for a routine appointment. Afterward, I put her on the bus to
go home. I walked over Westminster Bridge, the spectacular view (in my opinion), Big Ben,
Houses of Parliament. I am waiting at the crossing, hordes of people, a street performer sets up, waiting for pedestrian lights to change, he stars play ‘Despacito”, we all wait for the Green man, the lights change amd everyone breaks into song - “ Despacito” at top of their voices. People from all over the world!

Enjoy your day!

Hamilton live is incredible and for once the theatre is recently refurbished, so even the exit route down the back stairs is lovely!! It's in Victoria so it's nice and easy to get to

All the Christmas lights are on and the atmosphere, I think, is lovely. I live in zone 4 of London and regularly go out for a day on my own or to meet other half for dinner after he finishes work.

Sounds fantastic, OP. I often go to London on my own if there’s something on I want to see or do. I always have a great time.

Brilliant idea, and " Hamilton" is fab.
And how can.you possibly be bored in London? You won't have much time, so just be selective.
The Cecil Beaton exhibition at the NPG is excellent, if you can get a ticket.
Or just go into the National Gallery and pick a couple of rooms to look at (way too big to see all of it).
I guess there's shopping (which I hate!) but the Covent Garden/Seven Dials area can be fun.

Have a great time, well done for treating yourself! Let us know if you need any tips!

Sounds fantastic, one of my favourite places to visit solo. Potter around Covent Garden, it is magical this time of year

Oh wonderful, I’m quite excited now. Currently packing my bag
I’m staying for 2 nights I couldn’t catch an early flight because of the kids and I was worried about delays
