Airbnb in France has a mouse problem

I’ve been staying in an Airbnb in France since the 1st September and am due to leave at the end of January. Since about the 3rd week of my stay there have been mice in the property which is a 4th floor studio in the middle of the city. The pest control have been 4 times and put down poison but still there are mice and the whole building is infested.
Last night I found droppings in my bed and saw the same mouse twice on my bedside table and sat on the closed toilet lid. When I got up this morning my vitamin tablet from the side table had been nibbled at.
I have to stay here until I go home for Christmas as there is nowhere else to stay due to Christmas markets making other places unaffordable due to low availability.
I feel increasingly uncomfortable staying in the property so have decided I won’t be returning after Christmas.
Does anyone know where I stand with regards to a refund for my time I won’t be staying in January?
If I could I would leave now but I still have exams to sit at the university until just before Christmas.

That sounds awful, droppings in the bed is absolutely not acceptable. I’d contact Airbnb support directly, explain it’s an ongoing infestation, and ask for a refund for the unused nights in January. They’re usually pretty good when it’s a hygiene/safety issue.

Depends on the rules on Airbnb for that particular property. You agreed them.

Yes, I agree to them but I didn’t agree to a mouse problem

I've lived in France, and think that they have a more tolerant attitude to mice than we do in Britain.
That being said, mouse droppings in the bed isn't great, and I'd probably complain too.
Unless the whole building is treated, and there's no way into your building from the buildings either side (eg attic), then the mouse issue will not go away.

I've lived in two mousey houses in the UK and a mouse has walked on me while I slept in both of them, so you've got away lightly so far 🤣 Mice are very common, and difficult to get rid of completely and permanently.
That said, it all depends on Air BnB's rules, and the host's rules (where they don't contradict either Air BnB or French law. So I suggest you contact Air BnB.

So contact Airbnb customer services, as advised on their website and app. It’s not difficult. What can we do? Nothing.

Borrow someone’s used cat litter tray

Any need to be so rude? I was asking to see if anyone else had experienced something similar. You could have just scrolled on by.

Are you in Paris? On a recent visit there they have without doubt a mouse problem. I went to a local supermarket is district of Clichy and they were running all over the place
