My godson has an inset day tomorrow so I’m taking him to London for the day. I’ve booked the London Eye, where else should we go? Anywhere good for lunch?

My son loves Neds noodle box, it’s just behind the London eye.
Covent Garden to see the Christmas tree and they have a Lego pop up.

The science museum specifically the wonderlab and power up exhibits.

Natural history museum in south kensington and/or science museum right next door. Easy trip on the tube from the london eye.
Can't help with the lunch though, we took packed lunches.

Natural history museum to see the dinosaurs!

Depending on what he likes: Science Museum (or any other museum he might like), Babylon Park in Camden, boat trip (just an uber boat is fun for mine), Covent Garden, Hamleys, Sky Garden if you can get free tickets still- could also nip to leadenhall market if he's into Harry Potter, Borough Market

SliceofTosst · 27/11/2025 21:19

Tattershall Castle is a moored boat opposite London eye that does food.

Southbank Christmas market has some bars and lodges for a bratwurst and hot chocolate.

My own children loved the science and natural history museums. With hindsight I shouldn’t have booked the London Eye 🙄

Thank you!

You can get an Uber boat? He would love that!

Has he been to London before? If not, do the sites. Trafalgar square, Buckingham palace, etc

SliceofTosst · 27/11/2025 21:21

Covent Garden has a great atmosphere with a variety of food and a London Transport museum.

MissKittyCat · 27/11/2025 22:18

The Postal Museum - it includes a ride on a little underground train.

My kids like Shrek by the London Eye.

LostMySocks · 27/11/2025 23:49

He will love the Eye. Make sure you take a book/map to help point out the sites. Even if you know them some kids (well my DS) do like to verify you know what you are talking about.

Mine are a couple of years older now but at that age loved the Uber boats. Greenwich is fun. The Maritime museum is fun for a quick look and there's a great playground in Greenwich Park. The DLR station at Cutty Sark is still closed I think. Mine also love the foot tunnel and the narrow bit that was damaged in the last War. The lifts never work so you have to do the stairs.

South Bank also has a playground not far from the Eye and there are various street performers. This time of year I think the Christmas market with the carousel is just starting up.

The Jurassic world experience?

KilliMonjaro · 28/11/2025 06:37

Ypu can get a boat from London Bridge down to Greenwich using your Oyster op. Then you could walk up through Greenwich Park to the planetarium in the Royal Observatory

Agree - my boys loved Shrek’s Adventure when they were that age- if you don’t mind the cost.

mutantninja · 28/11/2025 06:47

London Aquarium is just by the Eye and is great for that age. Lots of places to eat along the Southbank. Wagamama does a good children’s menu if he likes noodles. My son, bit older, loves Ping Pong. Just by the Southbank Centre.
