Have I buggered up the Christmas cake?

Did a GF Christmas cake for a friend. For some bizarre reason it came out domed. So I had this stupid idea of turning it upside down to try and even it not.
Course it came out the tin and started to fall apart.

I've put the tin back over it and it's on a plate.

Will it go back together as it cools?!!!

I don't know. If it breaks apart when it's cool you'll have to eat it tonight with a nice heap of custard on it and start again tomorrow morning.
Alternatively, make some butter/sugar icing laced with brandy and stick all the bits together with it.
I'm trying to think what GF means. I'm sure I know, really.

Gluten free?

GF flour can make things a bit crumbly. Feed it loads of booze, then stick the bits together with apricot jam before you marzipan and ice it.

Sorry - gluten free!

Oh god I've made ours and now hers I can't face making a third.

Wtf was I thinking

Omg I want to try the 3 ingredient thing even though it’s only me that can eat it. It just is such a weird recipe…

If you do have to make another one Becky Excel has a GF Xmas cake recipe which works.Hopefully yours will stick together as it cools though.

@PortSalutSherryHello I feel your pain as just going through the very same thing. I have a post about it if you want to see the mess I made 🫣
Mine, however, wasn't cooked in the bottom half so it split in half through the middle (I baked it in a Bundt tin). I re baked it, and am now going to do as a fellow mumsnetter suggested and turn it into a figgy pudding by cooking some figs, or probably prunes as that's what I have, in some alcohol and mix in the 'cake' and put it into a,p pudding basin and steam it. This will be our Christmas pudding and I'll make another gf cake this time following the instructions to the letter
Good Luck!

Sadly not sure how to fix yours, but this one never fails for me: www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/gluten-free-rich-fruit-cake/

Crumbly fruit cake. Break it up, mix it with slightly softened vanilla ice cream (not the soft serve kind)and a splash of booze, then line a pudding basin or bombe mould with cling film, pack it tightly with the mixture, re-freeze it. To serve, turn out on to a serving dish, remove cling film, leave it for 5-10 minutes at room temperature to soften slightly, then serve your delicious frozen Christmas dessert. If you're feeling fancy, you can decorate it with whipped cream and glacé cherries. If you want to double booze it, use rum and raisin ice-cream instead of vanilla!!!
