Just that really would love some ideas.
He's my first grandchild I've got him a box of connectix and I have some clothes.
He loves books so I'll go to the bookshop but wondered if there's anything you found this age really enjoyed . I'm very out of touch

That sounds perfect. I’d suggest not getting any more. Mine had loads from family and it was overwhelming and they can just see it as a process rather than actually enjoying the gifts. Also it’s just more to store then clear out as they get older!

Oh Thankyou
Yes and it all seems quite similar to things he's already got TBH

Definitely books
Does he come round to your house often? Mine go to their grandparents maybe 5/6 times a year due to distance but they still keep toys there and it's nice having different toys when they get there
So if the parents have loads of stuff already, maybe special things to keep at yours

I think real things at that age are often a hit and a bit different from the usual bright plastic toys they have. Things like a basket of toys that are all metal - ladles, metal cups, set of measuring spoons etc. A basket of things that are all wooden, a basket of magnetic things. Something open ended that children can explore and teach them about the world. Someone recently gave my 2 year old a broken mobile phone and he loves it. A real hit, even though he already had a childrens phone. His own tv remote would probably go down well too

Yes because I do childcare at least o ce a week and more often twice!! So I get bored of the same thing gs as well!!
I seem to have bought him all the same books I read to my children and they seem so old fashioned now!! But I still love them.

I think your gifts sound lovely, especially with the addition of books, and you don’t need to buy anything else. But if you really want to buy something else, or perhaps keep an idea for his next birthday gift, my DD absolutely loved a busy board at that age. Especially with locks and latches.

It sounds like you've got loads already, but my kids loved Happyland (Early Learning Centre) stuff from 18 months on. Yes it's plastic tat, but it's good quality plastic tat and it really lasts and the kids get a lot out of it. You can almost certainly get some second hand in good condition.
