Which chair works better for nursery?

I can't decide between two chairs. The wooden one is very comfy. You can lean back on it. However, I'm concerned about armrests and that the baby's legs will get dangled in them. The grey one is comfy but you can't lean in it. However, no issues with armrests.

Appreciate baby is not going to be little forever so wooden seems kike a better investment but the purpose of it is to stay in nursery.

Let me know your thoughts please

The grey one doesn’t look at all comfortable.

Wooden one, I needed arm rests to prop my arms in when they were feeding, especially they got bigger. Get 2 v shapped pillows, one for under the baby when they are titchy and one for behind you head. Actually, get 3 so you have one in your bed too.

If you’re planning to breastfeed, you really need a chair with armrests

MardyAnn · 26/11/2025 08:42

Arm rests are best for breastfeeding but I will say I’ve had four children and have never once sat in a chair in the baby’s room.

Get the Ikea strandmon. It’s comfy, has arms and reasonable price. Use for feeding, stories and then as regular chair. comes in various colours

two kids and this.

KnickerlessParsons · 26/11/2025 09:29

Do you really want to sit up in the baby’s room to feed it all by yourself?
You can feed it just as well on your living room chairs, on the bed, or anywhere really.

Travellingatthespeedoflight · 26/11/2025 09:37

Not the grey one. You need higher arms to rest your arms on when holding/ feeding the baby.

TheCorrsDidDreamsBetter · 26/11/2025 09:47

You need padded arms. Their heads are really heavy and the wood will dig in.

I got the Habebe nursing chair and it is now a rocking chair in my living room 7 years later and a fantastic investment.

I have the wooden one in my kitchen and it's lovely and comfy. No specific advice about feeding but it's a really nice chair! Big enough for a child to snuggle up on your lap in it, so would be useful well after the baby stage.

Mostardently11 · 26/11/2025 10:16

I would say neither if you are buying it specifically for breastfeeding. You probably want one with padded arms. I have a chair with wooden arms and so can only use it with a breastfeeding cushion.

Caspianberg · 26/11/2025 11:58

@KnickerlessParsons - I fed Ds everywhere all day. But once he was around 6months it was nice having a chair in his room as I would read story then feed him there so easier to try and transfer to cot. And then overnight feeds sometimes ( if he hadn’t already ended up in our bed). Once feeds stopped we still use every day for stories before bed

NuffSaidSam · 26/11/2025 12:04

I don't think either is ideal.

You definitely need armrests. They get heavy quickly! But you want them to be soft and comfy, not hard wood.

Because you don't have a chair in the baby's room or because there was a specific issue with sitting in the baby's room?

Radiator981 · 26/11/2025 12:07

Please be mindful in the early days of cramping when breastfeeding!! I ended up ruining our new chair with a rush of blood. I found feeding in bed to my side more comfortable like lying down with my boob to the side or just sitting up in bed with pillows

WhatAmIsupposeToDoNow · 27/11/2025 11:40

@Caspianberg - good recommendation. Thank you. Unfortunately it's just too big for the small room. Measured this morning and it just doesn't work.

Seems breastfeeding cushion might have to be it... Might pop in again over the weekend to look at other chairs. Given more clear on criteria now, might try other options as well

Thank you ladies for getting back, very useful 🌸

Neither of them look great for breastfeeding tbh, if that's what you're planning on. The arms on the wooden one look way too skinny and I appreciate some padding on them. Arm rests have never been an issue with legs and my baby is a big 12 month old now.

I have spent a lot of time sitting in their bedroom feeding and cuddling to sleep so the chair is important to me!

I had a chair for DC1 but moved it downstairs.
All mine slept in our room at night for the majority of the first year and I generally fed them downstairs during the day and in my bed at night.
I just didn’t need to regularly sit in their rooms for any length of time.
