What age would you let your DD wear makeup out of the house?

My DD is8.5 and the only time she’s been allowed to wear makeup out of the house is when she wore glittery pale pink eyeshadow for a party. Also once for a dance show. However, I sometimes help out at a club she goes to and other girls (not all) the same age have worn mascara and tinted lip balm/gloss and highlighter/blusher. I was surprised at the mascara although I wouldn’t personally mind Dd wearing a tinted lip balm or glittery highlighter. What age would you let your Dd wear light makeup out of the house? I definitely won’t be letting her wear mascara until end of primary for health and safety reasons if nothing else, she’s never worn it.

I think the first time was for her Year 6 leavers disco.
She slowly upped it from starting secondary.

I’m afraid I really don’t like seeing young girls in make up. But a bit of sparkle for a special occasion or party is fine. I wouldn’t do mascara though.

It’s not something I ever made a big deal out of, nor do I underhand why some mums are so fussy over it to be honest. DD grew up ‘experimenting’ with my makeup so I’m certain that she left the house with a bit of blush or lip gloss etc at a very young age (probably around 4/5!). As long as she didn’t look ridiculous I never saw any big issues - it’s just a bit of innocent fun.

I think she was about 8 when I first bought her some mascara & bronzer to use on special occasions. She didn’t wear daily makeup until she was around 14 (and even now at the age of 21 has always preferred the natural side of things - very rarely goes beyond a bit of tinted moisturiser & mascara!) so I don’t think it caused any harm.
