Recycling empty cosmetics containers at John Lewis

I’ve accumulated a load of these that I want to drop off to recycle (not bothered about the discount voucher) but the website says they have to be clean. How clean is clean? Like I can’t really get a mascara or foundation tube totally clean?

I don’t want to take them and them have them rejected and have to walk around with them all day… going to Brent Cross specifically if that helps

Thanks!

Thanks. I have a boots near me but even though it’s huge they don’t do recycling. I’ll look for another one. Are they strict about items being totally clean?

I take off any labels and put mine in the dishwasher. For narrow things - like mascara tubes, I pour washing up liquid half way, add water, then agitate with a cotton bud.
