Anyone else caught in the trap of being late diagnosed ADHD or autistic and really blooming lonely.
A few years ago I had dcs at home, worked longer hours and was run ragged.
Now I'm still married to a v quiet possibly autistic person dcs moved away and I have no real company or connection.
I do work full-time with lovely colleagues mainly female who I feel tolerate me at worst and some are v nice.
I do like time alone yet feel lonely if that makes sense.
Anyone else feel like this,TIA.

I’m sorry that you’re feeling lonely @whatisforteamum.

Do come on over to the ND MNers section under SN.

Its not very busy in there but there are some truly understanding posters Flowers

Whereabouts do you live? There are some really friendly groups for nd adults in sheffield, maybe there are some where you are.

How do you hear about groups?
I have some online ones and have also experience of bad social anxiety which has lessened recently.
I met up with my dcs the other week and I think that made me realize how lovely it is to have company.

Yes very. I have looked at groups in my area but found that the my cater more to adults severely affected by ASD or partly affected and not working so are during the day.

I am actually angry at the psychological service that missed diagnosis when we persued it and I was 16. At that age there may have been at least some support and strategies for socialising. Instead I struggled with counselling with things suitable for people with social anxiety or that are shy. Those strategies don’t work if your brain thinks differently.

Have you tried meetup? If you're close to London there's a fairly active meetup group for neurodiverse women there. There may be others.

Try the NAS, they may know some groups.
