Car frost covers- obvious question

I’m sure I’m missing something obvious.

we've bought a frost cover for our car. We used it on Thursday night. On Friday morning it was completely frosted over. The car underneath was clear of frost. This was great.

However, I pulled off the cover and then what do I do with it? I’m rushing off to work so I’ve got a huge frosty/wet cover and nowhere to put it.

I wrapped it up with the frost inside and left it on the kitchen floor. When I got home from work the frost had defrosted and the cover was sodden. It repels water but the water is all beaded on the cover. I’ve stretched it across the kitchen floor and am wiping with kitchen roll but it’s still very wet and it seems to be a very long, tedious process that I don’t have time or space for.

What am I missing? Surely there’s an obvious way for drying/storing a frost cover?

We have a downstairs wet room so it gets thrown in there. Not sure what we'd do with it if that wasn't an option though!

You can also just use a big piece of cardboard (flattened box) on the windscreen instead if you have a driveway or garden to leave it in. Prop it against the wheelie bins or whatever, and replace if it ever needs it, or at the end of the season.

It's the main reason I'm not changing my car 🤣

My OH's Land Rover had a heated windscreen 30yrs ago.
I believe the concept was patented(?) hence why other manufacturers (apart from Ford of course) did not embrace it.
Fantastic solution to a recurring winter problem.

I agree heated windscreen is a game changer, however I wouldnt touch another ford with a barge pole and for anyone with a ford ecoboost I would be looking to get rid fast and purchase a windscreen scraper!

Yeah, I had one years ago too, assumed they'd become 'the norm' but found it wasn't the case & ones claiming to be were crap, except Ford.

my friend has a Hyundai he claims is just as good, but I've yet to try it in person & I think he's full of 💩

I can't afford to change my car but what's wrong with an ecoboost?

I've always wondered what to do with one as well OP but I don't actually see many on cars near where I live either. The only person who covered their windscreen used cardboard and a sheet.

"BBC's Watchdog has highlighted multiple issues with Ford EcoBoost engines, particularly the 1.0-liter versions, due to a faulty "wet belt" that can degrade and cause engine failure. The program helped expose problems like overheating, cracked cylinder heads, and loss of power, leading Ford to launch a "goodwill" support scheme in the UK for affected vehicles. This scheme covers some repairs for vehicles up to 10 years old with a full service history, though some newer engines are still at risk."

My car was 6 yrs old with 55k when the engine needed replacement. The car had been serviced annually and was still under warranty. Ford didnt want to know and we paid £4.5k for a new engine and was advised, no warranty over 6m on new engine as its a known issue. We had paid £12k for the car and still owed thousands in finance when it went 😭

Yes, I know two people who have been caught with this problem this year, theirs haven’t gone but in both cases they wanted to sell the cars and no one will touch them with a bargepole.

Yep. This got us a couple of cars ago. I second the recommendation to get rid ASAP. Ours was a 2013, lasted less than 10 years.

Again, though. Not a problem with an EV.

Ugh, thank you. Guess I'm stuck with it until it dies, it's been a lovely runner so far.

Pop it in the shed.
