Budget? Type of food? Location? Paris is a big city. All prices catered for. Michelin star(s) or bistro?

Le joules Verne in the Eiffel Tower! Views are amazing and food is lovely. Expensive but worth it.

This. Impossible to suggest anything otherwise. Do you live there, or are you just visiting?

Off the cuff, if you’re a tourist, I’d suggest Le Train Bleu inside the Gare de Lyon. The decor is lovely, it’s old-school French, and the set menu is around €70 and feels special enough without paying a fortune. We had a very nice meal there.

Bigger budget, serious foodies and wanting French? I’d opt for La Tour d’Argent.

Amazing views, healthy budget, and not so bothered about the food? Bonnie.

Lower budget? Bouillon Julien. Gorgeous art-nouveau restaurant depuis 1906. Food very reasonable if a tad basic.

Yeah, exactly. I have tons of recommendations for Paris because I visit regularly and have lived there a bit. We need more info.

Here’s one off the dome that I used to visit a lot: Semilla https://www.semillaparis.com/; it’s located in Saint-Germain.

Sorry folks I thought 50th and special would indicate something above an average bisto
Ive been looking at Jules verne and tour agent.
Toir agent appeals to me more with the history I love history but Jules verne is iconic isn't it and DC can say they ate there and remember mum's bday

There was another old place pocco something ?

Like the idea of train bleu as well thanks

The team at Le Meurice were beautiful with us, it's a wonderful and spoiling place just for drinks even 🇫🇷♥️

Do you mean Le Procope? I’ve been there (years ago), apparently where Robespierre ate. It was beautiful back in the noughties. Fabulous food too.

ParisCityofLights · 21/11/2025 16:46

All the hotels have good restaurants eg Crillon and Ritz but 5* hotels and don't come cheap. Paris is like other cities, you could have lovely dinner for €100 each or you can go unlimited esp when wine is factored in. Fred Sirieix went to La Tour d'Argent some years back. The wine cellar is astounding. But it's old school French cooking.

I don't want a modern dining room I want to know I'm in Paris and have two older teen DC

La Coupole is old and quite posh - went there once and felt a bit underdressed as we'd been out all day walking so had comfy clothes on. Very classy.

We ate at La Coupole last year, as I love art deco; the restaurant decor is lovely, but I was distinctly underwhelmed by the clientele. Mostly tourists (we’re not; we live there) and most of whom were not dressed for the occasion. It felt distinctly unspecial. The waiter also was very insistent on trying to push me to order the most expensive oysters, which I did not appreciate. Afterwards, I was hideously sick.

Ok, so you have kids. Good to know.

La Procope is one (if not the) oldest restaurants in Paris, down a very atmospheric alleyway. That would probably do you fine. Le Train Bleu, too, will feel special enough. It’s got a gorgeous cocktail/bar area, too.

Don’t necessarily equate ‘old’ with being authentic Paris though. It’s a modern city, and some of the best restaurants will be modern!

Bofinger in Bastille is beautiful

I went to Le Fumoir for my 30th and it was amazing, right by the Louvre: https://www.lefumoir.com

Id go to L'Oiseau Blanc (2 Michelin star) on the rooftop of The Peninsula Paris, has a glass-enclosed dining room with panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower and Paris skyline.

ParisCityofLights · 23/11/2025 16:20

Looking into all these thank you
