I only watched the first film for the first time a few weeks ago but saw the musical about fifteen years ago and went through a period of listening to the soundtrack quite a bit during a strange period in my life.

Watching the film has seemingly unlocked some of the repressed emotions I was experiencing at the time. So, watching One Wonderful Night on Sky at the weekend and then listening to both the film and the original Broadway Cast versions of those songs yesterday to compare and contrast clearly haven't done me any favours on any level.
