Advice - DS hit by rock

Sugarplummumm · 19/11/2025 16:10

My ds has just called me in tears. Walking from school to a youth club, another child (different year group but has a sibling in ds year) purposely threw rocks at my ds and his friends - unprovoked. A rock has hit ds on the side of the head causing a huge bump.

wwyd? Would you speak to school? Or is it not a school matter as it didn't happen at school? Is it even a police matter? I’m upset for him and a bit angry but I don’t want to blow things out of proportion.

Sorry, I should have said, DS is at a middle school

I would speak to the police and the school.

Um, if he has a large bump quite apart from anything else he needs medical attention.

Rumplestiltz · 19/11/2025 16:13

Rocks or gravel? Both bad of course, but if they were really throwing rocks, call the police. Extremely dangerous.

BellissimoGecko · 19/11/2025 16:14

Police, hospital and school. I’d also speak to your DS’s friends’ parents. I hope he’s ok.

Gravel wouldn’t cause a huge lump on his head, would it?

THIS. I am not one to overreact but throwing a rock at someone's head could literally knock them out cold (or kill them), its extremely dangerous.

ScaryM0nster · 19/11/2025 16:15

You deal with the head injury.

Danioyellow · 19/11/2025 16:15

100% police and school. It’s not hyperbolic to say that this could easily cause permanent damage or even kill a child. What ages are we talking here? Either way the seriousness of this means that this boy needs to dealt with in a way to ensure he doesn’t even think about doing this again. I’d be terrified for my child going anywhere alone after this. I’d make a police report asap, he may be still attacking other children now. And school first thing. It’s good you know who they are

Goldenbear · 19/11/2025 16:15

That's horrible, how nasty, hope he's ok. I would let the school know.

sittingonabeach · 19/11/2025 16:17

Police, school and check if need medical advice (at very least take photos)

NerrSnerr · 19/11/2025 16:19

Depending on the head injury I’d call out of hours or go to A&e to get checked. I’d also speak to the police and then school.

GreatUserName · 19/11/2025 16:22

Is your DS at the youth club now? Is there First Aid there who can see to him until you get there. Also another person/persons to vouch for the incident to the police, but more importantly to immediately check over your DS for the head injury.

@goldenmagicbiscuittin agree with you on this. Someone threw a rock at my brother when he was on his way back from school years ago and it knocked him out. None of his friends knew what to do as they were quite young and the knobheads who did it ran away. Took a while before anything was done to help him. No consequences for those who did it as no one dare grass them up 😡

PrincessOfPreschool · 19/11/2025 16:29

Also take photos

goldenmagicbiscuittin · 19/11/2025 16:31

@PissedOffNeighbour22 thats so awful - your poor brother. Yes, whoever did this needs a police scare so they dont do it ever again
