Small 2 bed terrace. Cleaning doesn't include the bedrooms.
Normal amount of "stuff" but it is tidy.
1 cat who sheds.
I only do the essential cleaning in between visits eg wiping counter tops down, clean the toilet etc.
If im honest some bits get a biy grubby eg the bathroom mirror, around taps, the floor.

Mine does my kitchen, my bathroom and hoovers throughout.

Helps me enormously

How often ? It makes a big difference if it's twice weekly , weekly or monthly obviously .
Surprised it wouldn't include bedrooms . Why not ?
Let's assume its weekly & no bedrooms . I'd say a pretty deep clean in 2 hours as it must only be hallway , lounge , kitchen , bathroom . I'd expect a very through clean of bathroom / kitchen including the floors / tiles cleaned & polished and skirting boards.
Bins emptied .
Lounge / hallway hovered if carpeted . Brushed & cleaned if hard flooring . Dusted & polish furniture , general tidy up . Inside windows cleaned fortnightly .

Mine hoovers and wipes the floors in the lounge, hall, kitchen and bathroom, and cleans the surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom in an hour. Just a small two bed bungalow and I get her every 4 weeks

How often is she coming?

I have 10 cleaner hours a month and she spends 1 hour on the kitchen alone. Sometimes one deep clean with some
organising. Sometimes 2 x 5 hour visits. It is not a large kitchen- maybe 3 x 4 metres? But that is a proper proper clean, moving counter appliances, floors, tiles, counter tops, wiping out the fridge. It’s sparkling when she’s gone. Bathroom is about 40 minutes.

i would expect a kitchen and bathroom to be done to a high standard in 2 hours- and maybe a hoover and wipe down throughout if there are no nick nacks.

Once a week. Tiny kitchen with no counter top appliances other than a kettle and a soda stream.

No bedrooms just because they are in a state at the moment. Id also prefer she concentrated on the "public areas" tbh.

I can do my entire
house in this time. Maybe not deep clean like oven and microwave but defo everything else. Small council 3 bed.

If it’s once a week I think that you can definitely expect kitchen and bathroom to be done, and floors hoovered and a cursory polish in other public areas.

I would pay for a 4 hour deep clean first though it’s definitely in a good state for her to maintain.

i think when you start to add bedrooms I would double the time though, or add another hour at least!

i could technically clean my whole three bed in 2 hours, but it wouldn’t be to a high standard. I had a cleaner who did weekly visits for 2 hours once (but whole house, not public areas) as she claimed it was enough- but the house was never fantastic. It was as good as I could do in 2 hours with a podcast in my ear and kids at the park. When you are paying someone to do it, you really need to feel it’s been ‘done’.

HermioneWeasley · 18/11/2025 16:27

In 3 hours I can do kitchen, living room, hallways and stairs, one bedroom and 2 bathrooms to a high standard (pulling out furniture to clean behind)

We had the best, most old fashioned and practical cleaner I have ever known whilst living in Stroud. Incredibly fast but thorough and they would do the whole house (9 rooms and stables) in less then 4 hours, visited 2 times per week. 175 cash.
He would arrive suited and booted with an array of different grade cleaning cloths and solvents but annoyingly (although we never complained) chain smoked castella cigars (I can still smell it distinctively) and as non-smokers was the eventual (after 5 years) deal-breaker

Did he smoke in the house? No matter how good a cleaner he was, I wouldnt have that.

My husband vapes (outside, never in the house) and I can smell that when he comes in and it's disgusting. I wish he'd stop.

Ours come weekly (we have 2 ladies for an hour each) and generally do main bathroom, guest bathroom, hoover everywhere except living room, and clean kitchen/dining, which is usually wiping down surfaces, any washing up, sweep and mop floor.

Every so often I get them to focus on one particular room or job (like skirting boards) but every week without fail they do the bathrooms.

We are in a 4 bed with living, kitchen, conservatory and 2 bathrooms.

Yes constantly unfortunately , it was the most peculiar sight (I do hope they are not on here, - he really was a fantastic cleaner) but I never seen him without a cigar in mouth.
To be fair it was pointed out early on in the interview, where he also smoked throughout for that

It's best to leave a simple listing your priorities with each clean that you would like focused on. Cleaners aren't mind readers.
