Paranoia with no basis?

I was born in Asia to British parents. I was citizen from that country until they registered me at the British Embassy 1-2 weeks later.

I've noticed changes since 9/11. I always get pulled out of airport security queues. My partner applied for a job that required very high level security clearance and it was delayed by four months as they investigated my background..

DS applied for his first passport and had a forty five mind long interview with someone who i an CERTAIN had goog LJ explained maps on a they were asking her where the nearest supermarket was etc.

I cannot give British citizenship to my children but luckily their father is British, so no problem there.

My statio

My questions are as follows: do you think I'm paranoid? Do you think I could get into the States *no desire to, just have family there)

@Lovecatssowonderfullypretty you probably didn’t intend to post this in the ‘chronic pain’ topic - I suggest you report your post to MN and ask them to move it to a more suitable topic.
About your question - I have no idea. I’m struggling to link your son’s passport interview to your chances of getting a US visa/visa waiver. Best way to find out is to try, I guess - but best done when you are planning travel, as they’re only valid for a limited time once issued.

I think you are a bit paranoid, you could probably get a visitors visa to the US no problem, staying there permanently I have no idea, but under Trump that might be very difficult. I assume your DS was an adult applying for a first passport if he had had one as a child it would probably have been much easier.

PodMom · 16/11/2025 22:06

If you’re a British citizen now you’ll have all the same rights to visit the USA as anyone else who’s a British citizen. British citizens can’t easily move to the USA to live/work. Not impossible I guess.

RandomMess · 16/11/2025 22:08

Anyone applying for their 1st passport as an adult has those interviews including the Google map - tell me how you would get to x. I think it’s to prove you are who you claim to be.

A friend of mine has similar experiences to you even though he was thoroughly investigated the first time it came up. He was born in transit in a country he has no connection to. He does travel to the US frequently for work but it takes hours to clear immigration each time. So I think you could go, but probably would be happier not going. I don’t think you’re paranoid, either.
