Children’s Services concern

I’ve just sent an email to CS, reporting concerns for my neighbours children. Probably should have done it before now, but it will be very obvious that it’s come from my family, so I’ve delayed longer than I probably should’ve, tbh.

Feeling a bit nervous now. Anyone know what will happen next?

They'll investigate

Well done on being so brave and applying your voice to those children., it's scary I reported my neighbours.

My understanding is my neighbours were contacted and told that a report had been received about concerns raised. In my neighbours case, there had been others also reporting their behaviour to the police, so it built a picture. After the visit, their behaviour changed, they sought support for their anger issues and I am pleased to report life appears much improved and I am no longer worried about the kids. It was a positive step and they never knew who reported them, although they did confide in me about what happened.

I gave my phone number and said I was happy to be given a call, although would prefer to stay anon if possible.

Clearly I’m expecting them to investigate!

I’m hoping someone can let me know how, or if I will be contacted.

just feeling a bit nervous is all 🫤

Thank you 🙏

That is exactly what I’m hoping will happen.

If you’ve given your number they might give you a call, they’re unlikely to come to your house unless there’s a concern about criminality in which case it would be the police - who would contact you first to arrange a time to take a statement and you can choose to go to the police station.

Childrens services will speak to education and health to start building a picture. If there’s no other concerns they’ll either keep a watching brief or they’ll visit the family to make their own assessment - it very much depends on the nature of the concerns and whether the family are already known to services.

You’re right to contact them if you’re worried.
