Tesco delivery saver… I take it it’s worth it?

I’ve never thought about doing the delivery saver before but I usually pick my groceries up after work on a Monday at a £2 charge. It makes sense to pay £7 to get it delivered to my door. Is there a catch?

Minimum spend is £50 a delivery but otherwise no catch. I get shopping delivered 2-3 times a week and have never had trouble getting slots booked (aside from Covid when I could only have 1 a week but they refunded me the delivery charges for the whole period even though I had a weekly delivery). Today they were half an hour late delivering but I got a voucher off another order. Occasionally they have had breakdowns or issues and orders are either cancelled or you have to collect but generally this is very rare.

you might find it hard to get a Christmas slot as a lot of those are gone already but you will get priority booking next year.

dogsandbudgey · 15/11/2025 19:58

sounds pretty solid then. Can you cancel at any time or are you locked in for the full year ?

Definitely worth it. Can cancel before annual renewal, can't recall if it's the same in between.

dogsandbudgey · 15/11/2025 20:09

Thank you so much. I think I’ll get the ball moving and get signed up. Think it’ll also keep me more organised and cut out all my daily trips to the local shop lol

Very much worth it as you are guaranteed a 1 hour slot

SmalltownCEO · 15/11/2025 20:24

I used to do it when there were more of us at home. It was great as you book a slot ages in advance and then you can faff around adding or taking away stuff right up to 11pm the night before. Handy if you use up something unexpected .

They guarantee it too. So if the plan cost £7 and you didn’t use £7 worth of delivery charges that month they would refund you the difference in Tesco coupons.

thenightsky · 15/11/2025 20:26

If you live miles from a supermarket then its well worth it. I'd pay more than £7 in petrol doing a round trip to my nearest Tesco.

RandomUsernameHere · 15/11/2025 20:34

It’s the best £70 (or however much it is) I spend in a year! The time saved is worth so much more than that, plus as a PP said you’re also saving on petrol. I don’t think you can cancel part way through though.

mondaytosunday · 15/11/2025 20:47

Yep and it tells me how much I’ve saved by using it (as opposed to paying for delivery). Not to mention the time from having to go collect it or worse actually go into the shop. Mind you getting deliveries have made me a bit of a hermit.
Before deliveries were a thing one Christmas my DH and I spent 45 minutes in the checkout queue and then over an hour trying to get out of the parking lot! Never again.

Roseshavethorns · 15/11/2025 20:53

It's definitely worth it for us.
We get a weekly delivery and I also use it to send the occasional delivery to my youngest children (students).

BlessicaBlimpson · 15/11/2025 23:09

I always use my clubcard vouchers to pay for delivery saver so it doesn’t cost me anything.

Okiedokie123 · 15/11/2025 23:13

If you pay for a whole years deliveries it’s much cheaper. I pay about £4 a month I think. (Way more than it used to be but still a bargain)

dogsandbudgey · 16/11/2025 10:21

@Okiedokie123 It is now £7, I’ve just singed up. Will still save me money as my delivery for tomorrow alone should have been £5 lol will come in so handy when I just remember i need a few bit last min.

£7 for anytime with Tesco.
its still only £4 a month for off peak which is a bit less than a pound each delivery if you have shopping delivered every week.
Ive never felt the need for the anytime option.

babasaclover · 16/11/2025 12:47

It’s brilliant cause 2 x £50 deliveries rather than 1 x £100 as already paid for unlimited deliveries mean fresh food twice a week.

I use Ocado and they are surprisingly reasonable with their own brand stuff and price match Tesco on named brands

FcukBreastCancer · 16/11/2025 12:49

It's good. I've tried a period without it, but still revert back.
Unfortunately no longer can get double club card points to pay for it so I just pay without to preserve vouchers for restaurants etc (generally double value)

I've saved £80 ish so far this year compared to individual deliveries and get early access Christmas slots

MinnieGirl · 16/11/2025 12:51

You sign up for six months at a time. I get shopping delivered once a fortnight and still find it great value. More choice of slots and priority for Christmas delivery slots. Plus if at the end of the period you’ve signed up for it would have been cheaper to just pay as you go, they will refund the difference, so there’s no risk at all! I like that I can order as many times as I like and not have to pay extra. You do need to spend £50 but if you don’t I think it’s just £5 added. I love it and find it very good value.

dogsandbudgey · 16/11/2025 12:52

@babasaclover that is exactly what I’m going to do. Rather than my teenage children eat the entirety of the snacks inside 2 days, plus I feel my fresh dates with pair up better with my menu at the end of the week

It’s a great way to be and don’t have to stress out hoping to remember everything for that big order.

also for me if I pop into co op for 1 thing I end up impulse purchases all sorts get to the till £30 and I think shit for £40 I could have had an Ocado delivery!!!

literally needed lunch box stuff so got delivery this afternoon but bulked it out with some wine I’ll put aside for Xmas, it’s so easy to reach the £40 minimum spend
