Manchester - any ideas for a good night out?

Hi all.

Me and DH need to stay over in Manchester, before a flight on hols. It'll be 12th March next year.

We normally stay at the airport, but this time our flight isn't until 7pm the next day, so we're thinking we could stay in the centre, and have a good night out somewhere.

Don't want to be pounding the streets looking for something on the night, as we don't know Manchester at all. Would love a cabaret/theme night/tribute night or similar. We are mid 50's, but very young at heart. Love a good dance, and a lively atmosphere, but obviously not a nightclub that's for people in their 20's!

Any ideas?

If you don’t mind spending ££, have a look at Louis’

It’s done like a speakeasy, food and a show.

That website is awful. I'm googling things to do in Manchester and hardly anything comes up. That can't be right surely?

Louis is great but super pricey. You also need to go later in the evening if you want to be there for the dancing. Try Blues Kitchen, they have great music

Letsnotupsettheapplecart · 15/11/2025 18:30

Mojo is also a great bar/nightclub

Cebello · 15/11/2025 18:32

20 Stories afternoon tea or bottomless brunch is fab but only been during the day.

cheesychipsontheoche · 15/11/2025 18:35

Wash house for cocktails. Maybe have a look at what’s on at the Opera House/Palace theatre.

Higher Ground for dinner, followed by cocktails at 20 Stories.

It depends what you want really, I think Louis, Tattu and the Greek one are gimmicky, Albert Shloss is too buy it is cheap and always fun. The Blues Kitchen is similar. The food at Adam French is fantastic if you want a v fancy dinner, I prefer it to most Michelin places I have been to. There are always lots of concerts and shows look at the ones PP mentioned, also Victoria Warehouse, Band on the Wall, The Ritz. The Northern Quarter is nice for a mooch around and a few drinks. Have fun!

Verywindyday · 15/11/2025 19:17

Head to the Northern Quarter.
or Spinningfields if you’re looking for something a bit more sophisticated.

The Refuge is great for drinks and food then they often have a good DJ in the bar. DH and I went with friends last May weekend and it was a fab retro disco night - sequin and glitter balltastic!

I hated Higher Ground! Over priced, tiny portions, and views of the back street drug dealers isn’t my bag really.

Albert’s schloss! Great atmosphere, lovely cocktails and the food is good too. They have live entertainment every night and a drag queen brunch on Sundays which is hilarious
