Silly question about apps

Daft question but I can never figure it out!

How do you know if you have to pay for an app? Is there something I’ve missed on the App Store page that tells you when you download it?

Told you it was silly!

It’s usually in app extras you pay for not the app itself

If Apple Store, then it says, lots of them say in-app purchases, which mean free, but you will have to sit through adds, or pay to unlock certain features. In apple you can choose paid for or free apps when you have searched, top left gives you the options, also options for phone or iPad

You won’t be able to download it without paying for it via Apple Pay (or the equivalent), I thought? Unless my settings are just very tight, I can’t download any paid app (or in app purchase) without entering password or thumb print.

@MyIvyGrows Ive been wondering that. Does the price only come up once you go to download it? It’s so weird - any other product, you’d know the cost before you make the decision to buy.

@NicPapr25I never knew what in-app purchase meant. That’s helpful, thanks.

@boulevardofbrokendreamssI didn’t realise that. Thanks!

On mine, when it's in a list of apps you've searched for it says the price in tiny font underneath the ones with a cost. Then when you tap on it, so there's only the one app on the screen, the big bar either says "install" which means free, or states the price on it.
