I am in London with my mum and sister. We have had a full day today with travel, the Cartier exhibition at the V&A and then Othello this evening.

We're normally v good at having our itinerary planned out but this time we find ourselves with a Saturday and no concrete plans.

I don't want it to go to waste.

Anyone got any fantastic ideas for how we can spend our day?!

Thanks in advance

A bus ride to see some of the sites then Covent Garden for lunch and a wander round the sites there…

Plexie · 14/11/2025 23:10

Where are you staying and what do you like doing?

Have you been to London before?

Christmas lights are up already.

shellyleppard · 14/11/2025 23:12

I would happily spend all day at the natural history museum ❤️

YouBelongWithMe · 14/11/2025 23:15

We're staying in Bloomsbury but are v proficient in using all London transport.

We've done a fair few London trips so have done a lot of the big tourist sites and tick box list attractions.

I suppose what I'm looking for os recommendations of fruitful areas with a few ideas of what specifically we could do there e.g. we once did half a day on Greenwich and did the painted hall, food market etc. or a day in South Kensington and did all the museums and then wandered up to Knightsbridge.

Thank you for this. We have done Borough Market several times as well at the Tate and surrounding streets.

Would you recommend Camden?

I’d head to Hampstead personally and explore around there. I imagine you’ve ‘done’ Marylebone before but that’s another favourite area.

Bufftailed · 14/11/2025 23:41

Had an amazing day a few weeks ago. Uber boat, got off Westminster. Parliament square, at James park, Buck Palace, Green park, Piccadilly (Fortnum & Mason), Leicester square, Trafalgar square. All walking

Bufftailed · 14/11/2025 23:42

Greenwich by boat is a great shout. Go to the market & National Maritime Museum

Jadebear · 14/11/2025 23:47

This is one of my favourite museums in London, if you haven’t already been.
You could easily spend a good few hours here

Then you could go to Evensong at St Paul’s - which is gorgeous (and free!)
It’s at 5pm

I’d do the Christmas light walking tour (bind street, Annabel etc loads in tik tok) Wallace collection is a lovely museum. Covent Garden for wander Xmas vibe and some viral food. Tik tok is good for current suggestions. I like flat iron steak and Ave Mario restaurants.

FatalCattraction · 15/11/2025 00:05

Borough market, or walk along south bank.
Sir John Soane’s Museum. Or Dennis Severs’ House. Or a walking history tour.
Selfridges food hall.

River boat to Greenwich.
fancy afternoon tea (though might need to book)

FatalCattraction · 15/11/2025 00:07

Camden or Spitalfields markets both good, very different.
what about walk along Regent Canal if you go to Camden?

I'm not a fan of Camden TBH - it was cool in the past but now just seems tacky & mainly food sellers (soz Camden lovers - just my personal opinion!)
Kew Gdns is gorgeous, Hampstead Heath is lovely, Richmond Park is lovely too & Richmond nice to visit.
You could do one or two bits of the Capital Ring if you like a walk.
Or book onto a guided London Walk.
Something I enjoyed doing recently was walking the London wall

Hope you find something you enjoy & have a lovely time!

I liked Camden the last time I went to London. It was nice to mooch around there for a few hours in the interesting shops (and shop fascia’s on the main road!) and get a bite to eat and a drink to people watch.
Also have a soft spot for China town and getting a cake from one of the bakeries there each time!
Enjoy your day whatever you do!

Georgiepud · 15/11/2025 02:48

Camden wouldn't be my choice.
Much prefer the likes of Covent Garden, especially at Christmas. Also Piccadilly, Fortnums.
Houses of Parliament or Royal Albert Hall worth a guided visit.

Georgiepud · 15/11/2025 02:57

Or a theatre tour like The Palladium is interesting.

No. Lol. It's too touristy and tacky. Good for teens but not adults.
