Going to Rome in February...

What should I not miss please? I'm doing the colosseum audio tour on the day I get there (Friday afternoon) and on the Saturday I'm doing the vatican / Sistine Chapel, but no other paid for big attractions as I'm only there until Sunday afternoon so I want to have enough time to just soak it up, walk around Trastevere and eat pasta and gelato. I'll use the tube if necessary but I'm a big walker.

Anything else I should be doing? I'm on a bit of a budget too but not enormously so. Just don't want to be extravagant.

Thanks

Trastevere is lovely, just wandering around there was my favourite thing to do in Rome!

We did a Secret Rome tour and it was amazing, they took us to lots of little hidden places you wouldn't know were there. I don't know which tour though as it was a guide on the street.

I wouldn't bother with the Vatican again though I would go to the square to see the outside. The Sistine Chapel was such a disappointment.

My experience of the Sistine Chapel etc was polar opposite to the hell others have described but I pre bought tickets and got there for 730am. We were the first people in the chapel and it was quiet for quite some time.
