Empty nester. Wfh - finish at 3pm, DH gets home around 6.15pm.

Have 3 hours to myself, 5 days a week. How would you fill them?

Pick a topic I knew absolutely nothing about-maybe something like the Lower Spotted Great Newt, the civil war between Stephen and Matilda or Sutton Hoo and learn everything I could about it.

I think it used to be called the Zulu Principle

Ooh, ooh, can I play?

I love a routine, so I'd play it like this:

Mon - 1h exercise class at home. 2h writing.
Tue - 1.5h writing, 1.5h "self care/beauty"
Weds - 2h swimming, 1h cooking (always like a good meal post swim)
Thu - 1.5h writing, 1.5h life admin/cleaning
Fri - 1h exercise class, 1h bath, 1h cook nice dinner.

In spring/summer, I'd fit in an hour of gardening each week.

I love an afternoon nap

Me too 😊

Thanks for the replies.

I"m so drained after work - hence I've cut my hours - I tend to have a coffee and chocolate biscuits and waste time on here. I'm going to join the gym this weekend and look for a couple of classes.

I have this basically everyday as I work different hours to DH and we don’t have children.

I enjoy the peace and quiet - have a shower, do my hair, watch some favourite TV shows, cuddle up with the dog and/or cats. Sometimes I’ll meet a friend for late lunch or coffee and cake, or take the dog for a walk if the weather is nice. In summer I’ll sit and read in the garden. If I’m having a really miserable day I’ll have a nap 🤣

I'm a creature of habit so I would go out for a walk 3pm-4pm every day. Get fresh air and some gentle exercise. I like listening to a podcast as I walk.

Get the food shop done so you don't have to go at the weekend (or book a slot to get it delivered once a week.)

Have a long bath.

Read with a cup of tea.

Prep something lovely for dinner.
