If anyone can tell me what to do because my daughter is addicted to a game on Roblox called "dress to impress". What should I do.

I play that with my DD - it's a good game tbf

Can someone please help me. She keeps asking for money so she can buy this digital currency that she can spend on the game. I'm a bit worried

Do nothing? It's a fashion game, no swearing, no violence, no inappropriate stuff at all. By all means limit screen time in general but I couldn't get worked up about dress to impress, far worse stuff she could be into!

Say no to the spending and limit her screen time?

TheresGlitterAllOverMyHouse · 12/11/2025 17:21

The fact you clearly know nothing about the game or “currency” is the issue here.

You are the problem OP, not your DD.

You need to be the parent. Limit her access to gaming. It doesn’t matter what the game is no child should be getting addicted to one so you need to take control now before things get worse.

it doesn’t need an outright ban but it does need clear boundaries and expectations

Say no and limit screen time by encouraging her to do other things. My daughter loves dress to impress,. sometimes I sit and play it with her.

I read the above newspaper article last week and I recommend it to anyone wondering about Roblox. My DC 100% not allowed it at all.

Love a bit of DTI in our house,
I play with my daughter, it’s a harmless fun game, just set boundaries on screen time and say no to in app purchases. You don’t have to spend money on extras,

mindutopia · 12/11/2025 18:03

Take it away. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My 12 year old is only allowed very limited occasional access to Roblox, because of the above noted risks of sexual predators. She can ask on occasion to go on and play with a friend, but it’s not even weekly. Otherwise, we have the whole app locked. Never paid any money on any online game. Just take it away and take her to go do something else.

DaisyChain505 · 12/11/2025 18:04

You set limits as to how much screen time she has.

You make sure all parental controls are on and monitor what she’s doing.

You set limits as to how much pocket money she’s allowed to spend on it.

RaininSummer · 12/11/2025 18:04

Surely you let her just play the free aspects of the game. There is a link, by the way, between the dopamine hits of these games and future gambling behaviours. Don't have the research but a gambling charity told me about it at work.

If your DD is addicted to Roblox then you need to intervene OP! I would just go cold turkey. Roblox can be incredibly unsafe and unsuitable for children, I’m afraid there’s no way my 10yo DD would be allowed to go on it. The Guardian have done a few articles on it, as has the BBC.

”Deeply disturbing” research exposes how easy it is for children to encounter inappropriate content and interact unsupervised with adults on the gaming platform Roblox. It comes as parents shared their serious concerns about children experiencing addiction, seeing traumatising content and being approached by strangers on the hugely popular website and app.

It’s a really fun game. Play it with her and you will see. You can play without spending money and so just limit her time on it and check she is not talking to anyone
