  1. I'm looking at Eurostar for Easter and wondering whether to book now or will prices come up or down before then ?
  2. has anyone driven in Switzerland specifically Lucerne to grindewald or shall we leave the car in Lucerne for two nights.

They use dynamic pricing so fares go up as tickets sell, although they often do promotions.

Not sure what your question is re. Driving. Depends on time of year but roads are usually clear although you do need to go over the Brunnig pass to get between the two.

@LIZS thanks

Do you think fares can only go up then ...euro star...

It's never very cheap for decent times ,role on virgin .

Re driving thank you I meant how hard the drive and parking may be as opposed to the train.

Unless you are going peak ski season there should be plenty of parking in Grindelwald. The train journey is scenic though.

Eurostar currently have offers for travel in next couple of months. We got returns to
Amsterdam a few weeks back for April just over £100 each on a previous offer. It depends on the route and which date/time you opt for so best if you can be flexible.

Eurostar often have good sales, we got brussels only a month before. I actually fancy Switzerland next

PeonyBulb · 10/11/2025 16:40

They do tend to go up

mine went up from £50 to £200 last time I booked so i was pleased I booked early at the lower price

We drove from Lucerne to Grindelwald but via Tuscany, Elba, and Milan so maybe not the most direct route. 😀
Lots of the hotels seemed to have parking, but there is train if you decide to leave your car.
The Eurostar never goes down in price that I've seen but does go up if you don't clear your cookies.

I have set days i can have off over Easter so maybe I should lock in now
@BaronessBomburst ..

We drove from Basel to Lucerne and that was fine. I'm scared of English country lanes,single track roads and so on. So I'm nervous at the thought of driving from Lucerne to grindewald.

The roads are decent, wide enough for buses to pass and no real drops.

BaronessBomburst · 10/11/2025 23:59

There were definitely no scary roads, and DH chucked in a couple of scenic mountain passes for good measure. I've been on far worse in Spain and Ireland.
You could try looking at sections of the route on Google street view to get a feel for the road. But as LIZS has said, the roads and bends are wide enough for coaches and buses, and properly tarmaced, so plenty of room for a car.
