Anyone successfully applied for ADP/PIP when suffering from hearing loss?

Looking for advice about how best to apply, please; my dh is increasingly struggling with any situation where he needs or might need to interact with humans. He has hearing aids, but as I am sure you are aware if you use them they are not a miracle and still means he finds making sense of what people are saying incredibly difficult, relying on me more and more to help.
His last assessment with the audiologist was 2 years ago, his next is due in February. Being in Scotland, he will apply for ADP. Any advice on whether to make a claim now, being as his condition has worsened and should qualify based on the criteria, or to wait until his next assessment which should provide additional evidence to back it up? If he applies now is he even likely to get a decision before February?
Also he cannot do an interview over the phone; will they arrange an in-person interview, do you know? Thank you

Yes, I receive PIP and have hearing loss, for which I wear hearing aids.

Without knowing the level of hearing loss and the type of deafness, it’s hard to say. However, I don’t think hearing loss or deafness alone would usually be enough to qualify for an award. I did score points on some descriptors because of my hearing loss, but my main reason for applying for PIP was another health condition.

Does your DH work? If so, Access to Work could help fund equipment or support in the workplace.

If he feels that he qualifies for ADP as things stand then there is no advantage to waiting as any award can only be backdated for up to 12 weeks.
However he will need to be able to demonstrate through medical reports how his disability affects more than his ability to communicate (this alone does not give enough points to qualify) so he may be wise to visit his GP before applying.

Thank you for your replies; he is wholly deaf in one ear and really struggles in his right. He needs my support to communicate with others, and to engage socially, so I believe he could gain 8 points.

He'll go and see the GP although he's not expecting any real help there, they're pretty useless! But he might speed up the next assessment.
