Shaving pubic area help!

Wickedwitchofthewest73 · 08/11/2025 11:07

I am so sick of doing this. Stubble is getting worse and painful shaving spots. I don't want pubes again and hate waxing and hair removal creams.
What's the next step in something more long lasting and effective? I have no idea where to start!

You could just not

TheeNotoriousPIG · 08/11/2025 11:32

Lasering, perhaps? (I can't vouch for its effectiveness, as I've only seen it marketed in a lasering clinic. I imagine that it would be much more painful than lasering less sensitive skin, such as on your legs!)

ellyoctober · 08/11/2025 11:34

Just let it grow; far healthier.

It's there for a reason.

Go gorilla, 🦍. Easiest option

Lasering

NeedANapAgain · 08/11/2025 11:35

I also shave, then apply Fur Oil, helps with bumps/itching/etc.

Flakey99 · 08/11/2025 11:39

I only shave the edges if I’m going swimming, otherwise I can’t be bothered. I’m not massively hairy so don’t do my legs and only shave my pits about 3 times a year.

I don’t want to look like a child or a person who does porn.

Fedupofwimps · 08/11/2025 11:47

Lasering, although waxing/epilating (sp) are perfectly good options and would put an end to the problems you have with shaving.

Grilledxribs · 08/11/2025 11:55

I trim the shortest trim not bald.
I can't deal with a full bush I think it smells and it's awful when on my period.

DaisyChain505 · 08/11/2025 11:59

Gently exfoliate before hand.

Use a new sharp razor and don’t reuse it too much.

I use hair conditioner instead of shaving foam or gel.

Don’t rub yourself dry, only pat.

Wear 100% cotton underwear.

Allow for enough regrowth before you shave again and gently exfoliate often.

Buying a Phillips laser is a good option too.

Buy a swimsuit with shorts style legs

Lasering is the best thing. The lasers are much better (and less painful) than they used to be. It worked really well on me though there are a few small wispy tufts on the innermost area - apparently this is the trickiest bit as it's hard to pull the skin flat for the laser. I've had 10 treatments and decided to just live with that. I trim those small areas short or use removal cream on them if I can be bothered - won't ever shave again as i hate the prickly regrowth and fear of cutting my delicate parts. It's worth mentioning that you do have to shave immediately before each treatment though.

It's about what you want. My husband prefers a bush to be honest (so it wasn't due to male pressure and no one else sees) but I prefer it. Others prefer different options and good for them.

OP never said it was for swimming purposes

Look on Groupon for laser packages but - crucially - the salon has to use the Soprano Ice machine. Speak directly with the salons with what machine they use.

This is proper laser as opposed to IPL laser which is rubbish. You’ll need 6-12 sessions.

You could also buy a home IPL machine but that is not permanent, sometimes hit and miss and probably similar price to the laser package.

ClaireFrasersHair · 08/11/2025 12:26

I used to wax regularly, but after having kids found trying to keep regular appointments for anything went out the window! I bought a rechargeable hair trimmer and have used that for years now, and never have any issues with itchy irritated regrowth.

DarkEyedSailor · 08/11/2025 12:28

Exfoliate
Put baby oil on
Put shaving foam on
Shave

shellyleppard · 08/11/2025 12:28

Let it grow naturally but just trim with nail scissors.... carefully, very carefully 😂 yes I'm talking from experience 😂

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 08/11/2025 12:33

I shaved that area for many years until literally a few months ago and its such a relief not to worry sbout it. I used to get frequent fungal infections which kept me shaving but since taking oral probtiocs I no longer get them and the hair has grown with no more issues.

Nightlight8 · 08/11/2025 12:34

Veet sensitive. It causes less rashes for me.

EssenBee · 08/11/2025 12:35

Using a fresh razor every time. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy.

I tried a Braun IPL despite being blonde. The instructions are correct, it doesn’t work with blonde hair.

freakingscared · 08/11/2025 12:59

hair removal from Philips to use at home is good , expensive but works

Jamfirstest · 08/11/2025 13:19

shaving spots are caused by sweat. You need to use anti perspirant on your bikini line. Stick or cream but not spray. I read this somewhere after using talc for years which doesn’t work. You won’t get spots if you do this.

Which one please?

Belladog1 · 08/11/2025 13:32

I use a Phillips razor and trimmer. I trim as short as possible and then do the bikini line with the razor.

I do struggle to see what I'm doing these days thanks to my boobs and belly.

I used to wet shave down there and would get constant spots and ingrown hairs. Not any more thankfully

Just let it grow; far healthier.

It's there for a reason.

But one of the reasons is to hold the body “scent” or, in plain English, the body’s smell. The same applies with armpit hair. Which is why many of us remove both.
