Er, Dog bed for toddler baby?

Have seen a few people say their baby/toddler sleeps in the dog bed. Ours is currently still a contact napper, but thinking a soft dog bed they can curl up into on their side whilst we sit in the same room for daytime naps and have eyes on them will help? Will be in a room that’s baby proofed if do wake up.

They don’t sleep upstairs for naps, only night time. Thought they might associate the space with day time sleep?

Good luck getting them to sleep in a room where other stuff is going on and has toys once they are past contact napping. Just get them used to napping on a floor bed upstairs with a gate on the door so you can roll away once they are asleep when they are a bit older.

My dog refused to use the nice new bed we bought her... but my dgd crawled into it and napped... so we have used it for that:) (Never unsupervised of course)

My children have beautiful grey dog beds in their rooms as floor cushions 😅 they absolutely love them and DS8 loves sleeping on his at the weekends

I'd do it

My Labrador has the largest Ruff and Tumble bed with a washable towelling cover. When DH'S grandchildren visit someone always ends up in it.

DC2 regularly slept in one at nursery.

It sounds a great idea. My baby slept beautifully on as sheep skin on the floor from tiny. I think he'd love a dog bed when he's bigger

We bought new beds for our dogs and the big dog hated his new bed because it made a noise when he got in it so never used it , our granddaughter however absolutely loved it and used it to read books in it whenever she came over .
I'm actually thinking of getting her one for home as she likes to make nests on the floor when she’s reading books or playing on her iPad.

Thanks all! Glad I’m not a terrible parent! If someone could point me in the direction of a good one, unless I need to go to pets at home will be very grateful!

Your toddler can try them out at Pets at Home imo!

Eldest child was an absolutely terrible sleeper- until nursery got a dog bed in a reading nook. He used to take himself off there when he was tired, curl up and nap but point blank refused to sleep in a cot.

Nursery were a bit worried when Ofsted inspected but explained why and they ended up with Outstanding and one of the points the Inspector made was the use of dog beds to meet individual children's sensory needs.

Its been 15 years since DS1 left, but nursery still use dog beds for the kids who like them.

My boy is severly disabled and sleeps in a high sided bed.
When poorly he sleeps in a dog bed in the lounge so I can keep ab eye on him! Our physio & OT thought it was ingenious. As hrs got older we've had to move to a ready bed!
