Anyone stayed at Alton towers?

Looking at booking the Santa sleepover. I originally wanted to stay at the CBeebies hotel but price is coming in over £100 more expensive and unsure if it’s worth it when it’s already costing an arm and a leg!!

Cheaper options are the splash landings hotel or the woodland lodges. Has anyone stayed in either and could recommend what we should book (if any!) or is it worth spending the extra for CBeebies hotel?

Yes! Absolutely loved it as a child and still remember it like yesterday. Our parents were the BEST ever the whole weekend 🤣 It’s a gorgeous place and perfect for adults too. I can’t wait to take my children one day ☺️

We've stayed in them all and done them all for the Santa's sleepover (this is the first year in 18 that we haven't apart from 2020).

Cbeebies is great for very young kids, the restaurant isn't as good and you'll need to goto the main hotel or Splash for evening entertainment and to get the buses to the park if you park at the hotel.

The woodland lodges are cold and we've always found them a little dirty. Same as above for evening entertainment, buses to the park and food.

The themed rooms are great but expensive.

We prefer a moonvoyage room or arctic if just three of you rather than standard.

I prefer the main AT hotel to Splash. Some of the Splash rooms get incredibly hot and i don't think the normal splash rooms are as nice as the AT rooms.

There is a covered walkway between AT hotel and Splashlandings and you can go to the entertainment/ bars in both. The only hotel you can't go in if you aren't staying there is Cbeebies but it's not really worth if you're children aren't very young and we like to watch the 'band on the boat' singers at AT.

The secret garden restaurant is nicer than Flambo's to eat in. Flambo's can get very dark.

You'll have a great time which ever you stay in. Just remember to book yoir slots for everything.

How old is your wee one? We stayed in October in the in the night garden room. Theme is on point. Lots of baby friendly stuff in room. Baby bath ect. Entertainment in evening. Food is dire and really expensive no option to eat at other hotel. Aside from that it was ok. If you are looking at just somewhere to stay id go cheaper if it was me. I dont think the extra was worth it. DD stayed in the smiler room in the other hotel and the entertainment was so loud you can hear it in the room. Did finish early though so not too bad.

When we next go we are planning the splash landing hotel.

Thanks everyone for your helpful posts we have booked the CBeebies hotel! Would’ve loved the Alton towers one but far too expensive and all being in 1 room with the splash landings hotel would’ve been a nightmare with 3 kids 😆 My 2 year old will love it!!

Have the best time!

Stayed in the woodland lodges around two years ago - I really wouldn’t bother. I expected a lot more from the lodges for the price. Was generally disappointed with the experience as a whole to be honest but it might have improved

We've stayed in splash landings several times (we went just for splash landings and didn't go into the theme park) definitely recommend.

We went in May, stayed in the enchanted village. We preferred that as there is more space than the hotel rooms. It was clean and we had a fridge. Only complaint was that we visited during a heatwave and it was HOT! They brought fans though.

We’re just on our way home from Santa’s Sleepover. It was our third and was possibly the best. They have Hex and a new haunted house ride this year. So, so good.
I feel like there was more decor this year too.

My tips would be to start with Hex and the haunted house ride (if your kids are old enough for them), then go to the sprout show for lunch at 12. There are covered picnic tables. There are only two showings of the show (11 and 12) and we didn’t realise so missed out this year. Then from there I’d do the pirate area and then CBeebies.

We did it the opposite way around so we missed the sprout stage show and the little one was tired by the time we were walking up to the hex and haunted house rides then having to walk all the way back x
