Running leggings. Where do you get yours?

I’m just starting out and need some leggings. I’m just going to wear a normal t shirt. Not sure if I’ll need a jumper too as it’s going to be in the evenings and it’s getting colder and wetter.

where do you buy your leggings from? I don’t want anything too expensive just in case I don’t keep it up 😬

Happy Stride. Fantastic quality and well priced.

I like loose cotton joggers and loose cotton Ts esp for winter

Leggings can be useful if you have some jiggle, at least until you tone up a bit

I really dislike the feel of the polyester technical material and I don't think you need it just starting out anyway. But if you do find that your basic cotton clothes are getting too wet and chafing, merino is incredible - I don't usually wear a second layer unless the weather gets extremely cold but merino longsleeved tops and a merino headband to cover my ears have been among my favourite buys

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BMLQLZH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1. Just bought a pair of these; lovely and soft, pocket is fine for phone and another in the back for the house key. No camel toe but I wear period knickers when running.

I would say get a cheap running top, a normal t-shirt will be very claggy when it's sweaty.

Tikiboo great if you like bright patterns and colours, they stay up well and have a zipped pocket.

Lidl

SoPunkontheInternet · 03/11/2025 21:41

Ovruns on Amazon.

I’ve tried so, so many premium brands and these are the best I’ve ever worn, and are only about £12!

They have pockets for your phone, stay up with no issues, and even have a little hidden zip compartment for money.

the very best.

FoxRedPuppy · 03/11/2025 21:44

lidl and decathlon are by best ones.

long sleeves, but no to anything thermal or a jacket. You’ll get too hot! The most I wear is a long sleeved base layer with a short sleeved over the top.

If it rains, I get wet!

Glowmode are excellent.

Sweaty Betty Power or Zero Gravity are the best I’ve found for running. Expensive new but can pick up for around £10-£15 on Vinted either new without tags or barely worn. Size slightly down - I’m bang in the middle of a size 12 but buy a Small.
I like them because they don’t fall down, have a key pocket at the back of the waist and a leg pocket that’s large enough for my phone (iPhone, but it won’t fit the bigger iPhone max).

Girlintheframe · 04/11/2025 07:20

Have a look on eBay and Vinted. I got a few bit from there. Got a SB thermal top for when it’s very cold, also a few Nike dri fit long sleeve tops for around £7 each.
When your starting out I think your better to buy 2nd hand as it’s hard to know exactly what you will need.

Legging I love are Tala SkinLuxe. I wear them all the time for running.

With regards to a rain jacket, are you actually going to go running if it’s raining? This is one item I’ve found that scrimping on isint worth it. The cheap jacket I have is only rainproof for around 3km and it’s hot! So this year I’ve splashed out and bought a proper breathable running jacket from a reputable running brand.

Sweaty betty and Lululemon are lovely but expensive. By far the best value for money I have found are fabletics - sign up for the free trial and you can get 2 pairs for £19, and then cancel before the trial is up. I've probably used 3 separate email addresses to benefit from this. The leggings are comfy squat proof, don't roll down and some have thigh pockets which is so much more convenient for your phone than any arm band or waist band

gannett · 04/11/2025 07:36

Decathlon is by far the best value. No frills but super functional. Sweaty Betty and Under Armour are also top-notch in terms of more expensive brands. Always check for pockets, I've been caught out buying leggings or shorts that looked nice, felt nice... and didn't have pockets.

Personal preference plays a part, I also started wearing any old T-shirt when I ran but now I feel most comfortable in tight compression fabrics. Some cotton fabrics chafe awfully.

For my phone I actually prefer an armband - easier access to control music volume etc.

If you sweat a lot, a sweatband will be life-changing. I spent YEARS getting annoyed at sweat dripping into my eyes before the penny dropped that they made products for that. I recommend Buff and Treadbands.

Oh and if you're just starting out GET PROPER RUNNING SHOES!

Go to Runner's Need or Decathlon and they can test your gait and recommend the right pair of shoes for you. Important for avoiding injury (on which note, do your warm-down stretches religiously too).
