Well mine is really cheesy but I just heard Robin Beck's First Time, and I got the chills and was transported back to the summer of 89 again!

Yes to whoever suggested Sinéad singing The Foggy Dew.
Also- the opening lines of Luke Kelly singing On Raglan Road.
Christy Moore 's Welcome to the Cabaret on the Live at the Point album- his 5 minute chatty intro to the night- such positive energy from the crowd knowing they're going to enjoy it.

Great thread! I'll add the Temptations' Papa was a Rolling Stone and Elastica's Connection.

Worst intro: Dexy’s Midnight Runners – This Is What She’s Like

Great song but for some reason it begins with about a minute of a half-audible mumbled conversation. Total buzz killer.

Baker Street

Agree completely. As a very young Australian tourist, he had me trudging up and down Baker Street a few times. Also I later worked in Scotland for a year, but had to frequently travel to London. "City to City" and its train noise got a mental workout at that time. That was truly memorable album.

Sax solo played by David Niven I believe

It was played by Rafael Ravenscroft who apparently later inaccurately claimed to have created it, until an old, earlier clip of Rafferty playing it on a guitar surfaced.
