Citizen card

Sorry if I am really being the times! I need ID for my children this week for a couple of things we are attending. This time I am taking their passports, but I would rather not carry them around. I have just found out about citizen cards - are they accepted everywhere as valid ID. Any drawbacks to them?
sorry if the questions are daft - I genuinely haven’t even heard of them before!

Depends on their age. They are generally not accepted as ID for entry into clubs, bars etc or for purchasing/drinking alcohol.
My DCs and their friends all applied for provisional driving licenses as soon as they reached 16. They are cheaper to replace than passports and easier to carry round.

ok Thank you. They are 13 and 10 but they need photo ID regularly for an activity they do.

It would probably be OK for that, especially as I assume you are also there. Do they have a school bus pass or similar that would work?

No bus passes. Thank you. I think I’ll apply for them and see if they work.
