Chemical face peel - inexpensive and not harsh night peelime chemical peel

Tale as old as time I'm sure. I'm early 40s and these years have caught up with my face. I've not really minded until now when DD (love her) said she thought I was older than DH (I'm not) then proceeded to dig a hole explaining its my skin colour spots (yey!). I've always had visible pores, pigmentation spots, and since kids, a slight hyperpigmentation mask. I won't mention the chin hairs. So I think I need to use a peel. I've been looking at The Ordinary and similar but getting a bit confused what to go for. Ideally I want something I can use at night once or twice a week that will help with pigment and pores. Tia!

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid is what you need! Helps with hyperpigmentation and rosacea redness

I actually tried this one for a very long time several years ago and it didn't do anything for the hyperpigmentation. Neither did one of those nail prefer prescriptions from dermatica. So I've given up on fixing that tbh. But perhaps this would help with the more general appearance of me face!

SR Skincare make the best peels and if you message them with your concerns they will advise you which one is best for you.

Tretinoin will get rid of pigmentation.
if you want something slightly less potent, try the Alumier skin care range, which is prescription strength too. Great for anti aging.

Thanks. I've got some azelaic acid unused in the cupboard so I'll use that up first off.

No7 Future Renew damage reversal - serum/day/night cream got rid of my hyperpigmentation - had it since DD2 (21 years) constantly being told my foundation needed blending or my make up needed touching up - I don’t wear any! It totally went which wasn’t expected I’d not purchased it for that.

Interesting, was that the night cream @ghostyslovesheets ? Edit to say sorry, I re-read your post more accurately!!!

Really interested in these. I suddenly look like I have aged quite rapidly. Do you use any vitamin c @Reluctantadult ? I always see this recommended for brightness and radiance

Reluctantadult · 02/11/2025 15:32

I did use vitamin C serum at some point in the past and didn't see any difference, I think that was when I was targeting my forehead hyperpigmentation, which I gave up on after over a year of trying to get it to improve. Maybe it would help with more general whole face appearance.
