Where to go on holiday with 4mo in November?

Hello

We’re trying to book a week long holiday in end of November - me, DH and 4mo baby.

I would love some warm weather, ideally some culture and things to do rather than just a resort (never done) though could be open to it. Rather not fly long haul so probably Europe. I think the Canary Islands is obvious choice but not sure if it’s for me (unsure if they are full of Brits!) Beautiful scenery would be great. Budget maybe £1,500? Less if we can

Any suggestions please?!

Thanks, do you recommend whereabouts?

I would do a city break of some sort. Madeira is lovely, but to me, it’s more restaurants, beaches and hiking (none of which are great with a baby).

I went to Barcelona with ds when he was 8 months old in November and it was wonderful. Still hot and there was loads to do. We did lots of museums (he slept in the sling) and restaurants and parks and late night strolls. The metro is actually quite pushchair friendly and Spanish people, if I were to stereotype, love children. Everyone was so helpful and friendly because I was travelling with a baby (definitely don’t get the same treatment when it’s just me!).

It doesn’t have to be Barcelona. There are lots of lovely warm Spanish cities. I’ve also been to Valencia and to Malaga, but not with a baby, but they were also nice. Malaga is my favourite actually, but Valencia has more museums and attractions, so depends what you’re into.

I do think Canaries would be a warm choice. We went when DS was 13 months and enjoyed it. Some beautiful landscapes you can visit.

Madeira is not a beach holiday.
We visited gardens, explored the town, took a boat trip and hired a taxi for a day to explore the island.

There is a surprising number of interesting places to visit in Lanzarote. It doesn't have to be a traditional resort holiday.

We're trying the Algarve with a 7mo next week. 22° seems a good temperature with a baby. We're actually staying in one of the resorts (first time for us too). We're only doing B&B and hope that it will be quiet. We'll use the bus and train to visit the other towns, so some walking and maybe brave a swim in the sea. I'd never go to one of those places in the summer, they look absolutely ghastly, but I hope it will be a different crowd in November.

Reporting back: we're staying at the Domes Algarve which has a heated outdoor pool, a nice giggly decking path round the lake to put the baby to sleep in the pram and the rooms seem sound proof so far. The cot they provided is a chico next to me and the bed is a big as a football pitch if you're cosleeping. I guess it's mega expensive and too busy in the summer, but it's not bad in November. Nice and quiet, mostly golfers. Weather is lovely.

Gran Canaria would be ideal. Especially Puerto Mogan which is beautiful. It is also quieter than say Puerto Rico and not hilly like PR so be ideal for pushing your buggy about.

Canary Islands is actually a good shout. Lanzarote is good for culture. If you want to stay away from all the other Brits, avoid the main beach hotspots - Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise.

Teguise and Haria are lovely.

You can visit the Manrique houses, the cactus garden, the caves and the volcanic park (go on a coach tour for that because only coaches go into the most interesting bit)
