I'm tempted to book a holiday to tenerife or somewhere else cheap this week, but noone is able to come with me, so I'm thinking of going alone, but I'm a bit scared

@Cherrypopping I’m totally with you, I don’t want to share and I like my space, it’s just nice to have someone around to have a drink with, an evening meal or lunch etc but your own agenda most of the time - problem is many people if they go with someone seem to think you are joined at the hip

Just back from the Canaries. It was lovely, perfect temperature for sunbathing by pool or beach while also being able to go for some walks. I was with DH and kids but could see myself being there as a solo traveller. Give me a book, sunlounger and some warmth and I am in heaven.

Oh I’m well jell, I would absolutely love this. I can understand the self consciousness but think you’re right not to let that stop you. Come back and let us know how it went!!

I went to Portugal on my own a few years ago, it was bliss! Not having to compromise and sleeping/eating whenever I wanted. I went 1/2 board and would have dinner early then chill with a cocktail and people watch. I’ve booked to go to Barcelona in a few weeks solo for my birthday and am looking forward to it, I always feel nervous but know I’ll have a great time once I’m there. Go for it!

There are some great bargain deals around for Canaries and Cyprus ATM. My sister got one for Cyprus and paying 20 percent less than she paid last year for same hotel. Go for it OP a little winter sunshine will be lovely for you. Take a couple of books and a puzzle or crossword book and your cozzie and enjoy it. Try to go all inclusive at a hotel with spa for maximum relaxation. I am very envious.

Gran Canaria was great on my own last year. I hate doing stuff on my own but it was my one opportunity.
I did an apartment hotel so I could get salads and precooked foods if I didn’t feel up to eating alone. There was a surprising amount of people there on there own.
I like sunbathing, walking and swimming and I could all unembarrassed at being alone.
There were plenty of ferry trips out etc which were easy to.
I went to Puerto Rico which is very Brit’s abroad (quite hard to feel embarrassed there)and some Dutch/ Norwegians etc.
Do it. It’s also cheap so no less disappointing if you hate it.

Absolutely, solo travel is the best thing ever.

id encourage you to have some kind of kitchen facilities. Shopping for one for interesting things is all part if the experience got me too.

you can always have some meals out too.

enjoy enjoy enjoy.

my essential equipment includes bone conducting earphones so I can listen to audiobook or music while still being aware of my surroundings.

Not the same I know but I was in Adeje in Tenerife in Jan this year. DH wasn’t well for a few days and I went out a lot on my own, inc dinner in the hotel/local restaurants.

I felt very safe and comfortable. I read my book, went on my phone, people watched and had a couple of glasses of wine.

Do it OP!
