Anyone got a dyspraxia diagnosis as an adult.

I'm looking into getting diagnosed I was told I'm under the neurodivergent umbrella.
I've always struggled with sport like catching a ball, running and I'm quite uncoordinated. No sense of direction and bruises everywhere from bumping into stuff when I'm tired. My handwriting is dreadful.
Anyone know the waiting time for a diagnosis or if knowing this would be useful for an adult.TIA

I’m very sure I’m dyspraxic- bad co-ordination, issues with certain sports (I couldn’t hurdle at school for example) dreadful balance, ‘double jointed’ in my hands. I’m also dyslexic (my son has been diagnosed and I present the same way).
I have found reformer Pilates has really helped. It takes a little longer for me to learn new routines, but the more I practice the better I am getting. My balance has improved as has my coordination. It has been a revelation.

I totally relate to that. Reformer has been a game changer for me, it’s the first time I’ve been able to do exercise and keep up. I’m being left out of the new padel craze because there’s not a hope in hell of me making a racquet and ball contact and getting it back over a net

I’m better off being shown how to do something than reading a manuel or instructions

@moneyadviceplease I think Padel looks really hard

But I wanted to try badminton. There's a place nearby and a couple of my neighbours play. But I was very honest and said I'm likely to be hopeless and you could feel them going quiet 😂 sadly there are no courses or I'd give it a go.

What would be the point? Does it qualify you for some kind of benefits?
I am the same, rubbish at coordinating and clumsy. Could never follow a gym class or hit a ball. I have other things I'm good at.

I'm not sure if it's useful that we call dyspraxia ND. It is a disability

I’m dyspraxic - confirmed by an occupational therapist who did an assessment, and then by a psychologist.

Tbh having the formal diagnosis hasn’t particularly helped with anything, I’m not sure it would be worth paying for. It was so obvious that I’m dyspraxic anyway.

Knowing is useful, I’ve been able to get a lot of advice online and look for suitable resources. Also helps me to be more realistic about what I can do/what will be difficult and need more time.
