Rolife book nooks- tell me more?

I keep seeing adverts for these and they do look cute.

Does anyone do them? If so can you recommend good ones for a beginner?

Do you need lots of tools, i.e glue/knife?

I'm currently an inpatient in hospital and looking for creative things I can do.

Thanks!

I love them - maybe try a room first as the nooks are a bit more fiddly. I have finished two (detective agency and book shop) and have another waiting to go.

Most of the parts are press out and they should come with glue. I find the wiring really fiddly (didn't bother with the lighting for my second one). You need sharp scissors, a craft knife, a pencil, a ruler and needle nose pliers, and that's about it. The instructions are pictoral, and when I got stuck once I found a youtube video of someone making the set so I could see where I'd gone wrong. That might be a good start - look at a video to get a feel for it all.

You also need somewhere to stand the pieces while they dry/keep them until you are finished, but the sets are great fun.

I've done a greenhouse and a cafe
Cafe one needed lots of glueing of pieces together to be stable so took much longer than the first. But it was quite a rewarding make overall. (Doesn't have to all be done in one go)

Thanks for these answers. I didn't realise you'd need glue and craft knifes etc. I might have to wait til I'm home :)

I’ve done all of them, it’s not something you could do in a bed! I am very crafty and find them easy ish but they are fiddly. I don’t like the rooms as much, I find them far more fiddly and for some reason lower quality.

The glue (pva I think) is provided in tiny neat tubes and not particularly messy, and I only used the craft knife for a couple of pieces - you could probably manage without.

You could try the ones which are more press out pieces (I bought my Dad a Tower Bridge last year). Can't remember the company though.

They are lovely - really quite challenging, so might be a good project for you.
I got my crafty daughter one and it took some patience and time. I like how they slot between books on a shelf and have a little light as well.

Im thinking to get her the Alice in wonderland or a potion/halloween type one for Xmas.
