I enjoy being an assessor in healthcare for a FE college. Pay not amazing considering my masters degree education but the flexibility is amazing. That said my learners do well on their level 3 courses and those who are motivated progress to nursing registration courses.. mix of online and face to face

I absolutely loved my last job, building a wooden seaplane, but got laid off sadly. Now I work in composite manufacturing and I quite enjoy it, like doing hands on work so factory floor suits me.

Hoppinggreen · 30/10/2025 10:58

Relocation and Education Consultant, I love it

Teaching Assistant. You have to love it; you wouldn't do it for the money!!

Ilovethatforyou · 30/10/2025 18:53

@Mullaghanish the flexibility sounds SO appealing. @Hoppinggreen if you don’t mind expanding, I’d love to understand what that entails?

I help Execs (mostly) moving to The UK to find houses, schools and provide orientation and cultural training.
I am SE but work for for large corporates who are bringing employees in

Finance manager. I do love it. I work for a 30 person company, only me and one junior accountant in the team. As such, I own the department and do things my way. And I get a LOT of flexibility in my role. I do like the work and pay as well.

Basically as long as the deadlines are met I can do the work when I want. Great around my 3 year old DS.

Lastly I dont have to talk to many people on a daily basis which suits me perfectly!

Didn't have those skills until a couple of years ago, when I decided to retrain in something completely new. Never too late to try something new and learn new skills!
The composite working skills I've been learning on the job, and soon I'll be learning more new things (NDT testing)

@YesItsMeYesItsMe if I had the skill, I think I’d love that too!

I retrained a couple of years ago, I obviously have sung lots in my life but had about 8 years when I was a SAHM where I didn’t sing at all! I definitely recommend just jumping in and going for it, whatever ‘it’ may be. I searched for what to do for years while I was a SAHM and then one day the singing teacher thing unfolded and it just felt good and has worked out so far so good. I did lots of courses to try and see what I wanted to do, and the national careers advice service was good for exploring options.

Haha, I will admit there are days when I question my life choices Grin

But overall I do love it - being with dogs all day is fantastic for my mental health (I'm autistic and animals are my special interest). I've kitted myself out with a great wardrobe of warm, dry gear - I mainly dread summer when I spend my days sweaty, sticky and worrying about keeping the dogs cool, lol.

Talent agent running my own agency

Middlemarch123 · 30/10/2025 20:12

Was an English teacher until last year. Now I have a small business as a dog walker. Currently have six dogs that I regularly walk, and I absolutely love it. They are so gorgeous and their owners seem very appreciative. Love it.

SeaAndStars · 30/10/2025 20:14

Retired now but I was a gardener. Absolutely loved it and now I'm retired I spend a lot of my time gardening on my allotment, in my garden and at the National Trust garden where I volunteer.

KingOfPoundbury · 30/10/2025 20:15

Not very much, actually! Gaffaw, gaffaw.

Oooooak · 30/10/2025 20:16

Video editor, love the creativity and fairly different each day

ThisAquaFinch · 30/10/2025 20:17

Speech and language therapist! I love it!

namechange2313 · 30/10/2025 20:19

I loved my job & miss it (had to leave due to health). Paediatric occupational therapist.

I generally love being an OT in any area but Paeds has been my favourite.

WorthySloth · 30/10/2025 20:21

Support worker. Something different every day. Brilliant colleagues we all laugh a lot. Plus I do my 36 hours in 3 days so my full time feels like full time. And I pick the days I want to work.

NoodleHorses · 30/10/2025 20:29

Currently a claims handler. It doesn’t sound exciting but each claim is different and I sort out problems and help people. I think I am reasonably good at this and I work for a fantastic company.
